After a red hot start to the season in New England it hasn't been rainbows and sunshines in Minnesota since. The Vikings traveled to San Fran in week 2 to take on the 49ers. Dalvin Cook was impressive as always, but the rest of the offense not so much. They struggled to throw the ball, and they dropped planty of passes.
As time expired Kicker Nick Folk missed the 30 yard game winning Field Goal. The game went into OT and the Vikings mad a good stop. On offense they drove the ball down the field for another game winning Field Goal. This time though it was blocked and returned for a Touchdown as the 49ers upset the Vikings 20-14.
In Week 3 your Minnesota Vikings traveled to the desert to take on the Cardinals and their new coach Ed. David Johnson nor Dalvin Cook could be stopped, the difference was the passing game. Sam Bradford couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Rookie Devrin Gholston for the Cardinals threw a coupole pick (rookie mistakes) but overall looked decent. The Vikings had the Cardinals stopped to get the ball back, but CB Xavier Rhodes had facemask penalty that would cost them the opportunity to get the ball back.
ESPN Vikings reporter James Lemley caught up with Coach Jason Miller after the Week 3 loss and here is what he had to say. "The passing game just looks awful plain and simple, the defense was good in San Fran but not so much here today." Lemley went on to ask Coach Miller what he would do to motivate these men. Miller was quoted as saying "We play the much improved Rams at home next week so we need the fans to be loud and proud" Miller ended the quick interview with a "Skol Vikings"
Next week the Los Angeles Rams come to town, much improved with wins over Green Bay and Carolina. Jared Goff has ignited the passing game and Dion Lewis not Todd Gurley has brought this running game to life. The Vikings defense will have to take on this Rams squad without stud linebacker Eric Kendricks. Second year man Eric Wilson will take his place while Kendricks sits out 5 weeks witha shoulder tear.
