The 2018 Los Angeles Chargers are hoping of a repeat in the regular season of 2017, and an improved post-season. 2017saw the Chargers go 13-3 and secure the #2 seed in the AFC. A 29-26 loss in the Divisional round to eventual Super Bowl champion, the New England Patriots.
Today we will take a look at the 2018 Charger Defense.
First up is the Defensive Line. Unfortunately the "Goon Squad" was out having a good time and didn't show up for pictures. Anyway we will jump right into the preview.
-----At RDE is verteran Melvin Ingram(91ovr). Last season Ingram led the Chargers with 18.5 sacks, 5 TFL, and 60 tackles.
-------LDE is held down ny 2nd year Joey Bosa(93ovr). Bosa had 15.5 sacks, 14 TFL, and 66 tackles
-------DT Corey Liuget(85ovr) holds down one inside spot. Last season he 7.5 sacks 2 TFL, and 42 tackles
-------A new face will slide inside this season to DT. Rookie Hunter Keasey (82ovr) will move from DE to DT. Expect big things from this young buck.
The LB group will be exciting to watch for the Chargers in 2018.
-------ROLB Jatavis Brown(88ovr) holds down the D!! He will always be on the field for LAC. Last season he had 84 tackles, 17 TFL, 4 sacks, and 7 Ints. No doubt he makes the Charger defense go.
-------LOLB Jeremiah Attaochu(84ovr) returns taking over the left side. He totaled 69 tackles, 8 TFL, 10.5 sacks and 5 Ints. He's very versatile and will be moved around a lot again this year.
------A new face will take over the MLB spot. James Sample. He's very unknown player. He was acquired in the FA process during the offseason.
The "No Fly Zone" returns again in 2018. Last season the Chargers finished 4th in the SFL in Interceptions and these 4 were part of the reason why.
--------2017 Pro Bowl CB, Casey Hayward(89ovr) returns for his 7th season. Last year saw Hayward snagged 8 Ints, 70 tackles and a pro bowl spot.
-------Opposite of Hayward is stud CB, Jason Verrett(87ovr). Last season teams avoided Verrett as he locked down defenders all season. Verrett totaled 56 tackles, 4 TFL, and 1 Int.
-------All Rookie Rayshawn Jenkins(85ovr) made a HUGE splash in 2017. Jenkins was slept on by opposing teams and he made the pay dearly to the tune of 56 tackles, 5 TFL, 9 Ints, 3 FF and 3 DTD. Jenkins returns hungy to duplicate that success.
-------Another change for the Chargers came with Desmond King(79ovr) going back to his college position, FS. As a Rookie King play Nickel CB for the Chargers, making 56 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 6 Ints.
Lots of excitement for the 2018 LAC defense!!!!
