Of all the games that the Falcons were expected to lost in this season (which wasn't many), Dallas was not considered one of them. However, the "Any Given Sunday" mantra never remained truer in a battle with Dallas. Zeke was able to run at will over a Falcons front that seemed to be virtually overmatched until some investigating after the game was over. The research department in Flowery Branch noticed some things went awry with the defense as a whole when defending the run but have virtually remained silent as to why it happened. Only a few outside that circle in Atlanta knows exactly what happened and Atlanta is content on NOT letting the BS happen again. However, Atlanta had some tough games after that. The always dangerous Seattle Seahawks and 7-2-1 Buccaneers were right after and Matt Ryan knew they had to rebound quickly because they are focused on the bigger goal, "7".
"That's all that matters", quipped Ryan, who knows this season is a failure unless the Falcons secure the Lombardi for the seventh time. They would essentially be the only team in SFL history with 7 championships (They are currently in a tie with Baltimore for the most rings with 6). Seattle's pass rush was absolutely ferocious. Ryan was sacked 14 times and hit an additional 7 as the pressure was in his face all game. For most of the game the Falcons were trailing, to a familiar foe, in Seattle. But thanks to some key Safety play and Devonta Freeman's 3 scores, Atlanta escaped with a victory.
The next battle was the exact opposite. If Seattle's calling card made it a defensive struggle, then Tampa made it a shootout for the ages. Mike Evans was shadowed by lockdown corner Desmond Trufant all afternoon. Trufant saw action in the pass game for the first time since week two when Turk didn't know any better so he threw everywhere. Trufant allowed 2 TDs to Mike Evans. One, Ricardo Allen inexplicably pushed Trufant out of the way when his sights were set on coralling the football for his team. However, Trufant had the last laugh as he had the game ending pick-six as Atlanta won. The second half of that game was won by defensive. After allowing 29 first half points. Tampa only mustered 7 more points the entire game.
Looking ahead, the next game on the Falcons schedule is the Minnesota Vikings who are currently leading their division and has already decided to talk a bunch of trash to Atlanta. "Not sure why Xavier Rhodes keeps mentioning my name" Julio answered when peppered with questions about Rhodes claiming he was gonnna "LIMIT JONES". Only time will tell how bad Julio will intend to destroy him. "Everything depends on the gameplan. But believe me, if the coach wants Rhodes to get torched, he will" said Julio in probably his most boastful claim as a pro. After that game, there are four divisional games left. Two versus the Saints. One against Steps and Bucs and Crim is looking for revenge as well. They may be gunning for Atlanta but, Atlanta only needs two more wins to win the division. Beasley is back from injury, Julio seems intent on making an example out of someone and the organization is looking for a first round bye. Things are about to get interesting.
