It's been a bad season for the defense in Buffalo. The players have been in position to make plays but just have not made them. The matchup versus the San Diego Chargers would play the same song. Players were in position to make plays but just did not make them. But here we will highlight the plays that were made.
Early in the game Lorenzo Alexander made a great read on a swing screen pass to Melvin Gordon. It was almost like telekinesis.
Lorenzo: "It was just a play we've seen on film by quite a few teams. So we were definitely looking for it."
Lorenzo: "We tried to make plays against this earlier this season but for some reason, players couldn't get that first step to make a play on it."
Alexander would score and cut the game to one point but the Chargers would march right back down the field and score a FG. The one thing that Coach Harris was proud of this game barring the none-plays to be made was the redzone defense after the Chargers 2nd score.
I thought we played exceptional down there in the redzone but we didn't make the plays that we should have made down there on critical downs to keep them out of the endzone. It's pretty frustrating to have them 3rd and goal and have players in position to make plays and they just fiddle their thumbs and let the offensive player catch the football for a score.
Outside of that the Defense did a great job of stopping the run and getting after the QB. Jerry Hughes would continue his dominance getting to the QB twice:
Preston Brown had 1 Interception but dropped another one.
He also finished with a FF late in the 4th QTR.
It was not enough as the Bills drop another game.
