After a rough start, the Bills defense is starting to settle in. There are still some communication breakdowns at times but for the most part, they are starting to play solid football. There are just too many distractions early on in the season for them to focus, but it looks like the coordinator is starting to study a bit more.
Jerry Hughes got his number called a lot against the Jets and got home several times. He actually got home on the first defensive snap but got called for a facemask penalty. The linebackers and secondary also played solid picking the football off five times.
There are a couple of big plays that we were not to happy about in this game. The one deep pass on Jordan where he stood there and spinned around and allowed the WR to then run it in the endzone and the running play late in the game was just our guys not getting lined up in time. We've simplified the defense such that our guys should be able to get lined up easily, but sometimes it doesn't happen (lag in the controls :( ).
Offensively I think this was a game where we were finally clicking and playing decisive and quick. For the most part we have been taking care of the football. No fumbles for three games now and we are happy with that. T-Mobile almost threw a flawless game in terms of TD/INT ratio. I'm sure he would have liked to put a little more air under that one pass that was intercepted. The important thing for us right now is we are back at .500 and hopefully our best playing is in front of us.
