Last season the fans in Pantherville were treated to a less than steallar camaign, with the team finishing at the bottom of the NFC South, sporting a 6-10 record.
This time around the Panthers and their newly appointed head coach, Jordan Charles, look to regain the swagger they once had that propelled them to a SuperBowl 50 appearance. Starting the season off against a weaker opponent in the San Francisco 49ers helped push things along, but it wasn't until week 2 that this Carolina squad really showcased what they could do.
In an effort to keep up and defeat one of the more creative and successful coaches within the SFL, Carolina turned to their power back in Jonathan Stewart. The now 30-year old has led the Panthers in rushing yards, and following a 146 yard performance in Buffalo, was one of the top rushers in the league,
Newton also turned to rookie running back, Christian McCaffery for his first NFL touchdown in a 30-20 victory over the Bills.
As we fast forward to week 3, the Panthers defense showed that they could also carry the load when needed. With the New Orleans Saints coming to town, the Panthers knew it was a nice opportunity to get at a divisional opponent early.
New Orleans had a shot to close out the Panthers, but a solid hit by Luke Kuechly punched the bal loose and gave the Panthers the win they very much needed.
Quickly Carolina was brought back to earth when they took on the New England Patriots, seeing glimpses of the old Cam Newton, who threw 6 of his 8 interceptions in this one alone.
Charles and company got the train back on track by defeating the Detriot Lions, 29-23, and now look ahead to taking on the Philadelphia Eagles infront of the world on Thursday Night.
