On a perfect Thursday night, the Chargers and Eagles did battle. The Eagles 3-0, #1 offense, #1 swerve running, and #1 MUT attack on the SFL, had to travel to face the 2-1 LAC Chargers. "We knew they had an explosive offense, said Coach Gambler. We wanted to try to establish the run and limit their possesions."
The run never got established for LAC. The Philly defense was to much. Insablock shed, and good user play made running the football impossible. The game started off slow and was all Philly. Right before the half Philly was up 17-3, driving for another score when LB Jatavis Brown of the Chargers picked off a pass and appeared to be going for a pick 6, when out of nowhere his own player crossed in front of him and caused him to stumble and fall. "You gotta laugh to keep from crying, said Gambler."
The 2H would belong to LAC though. Outscoring the Eagles 26-10.
Lots of big plays in the 2H but the biggest play was when Rookie Rayshawn Jenkins came downhill and brought the THUNDER on stud RB LeGarrette Blount and caused a fumble. Jatavis Brown scooped up the fumble for what should have been a scoop and score but Madden blew the whistle to kill the play.
Veteran QB Phillip Rivers gathered the offense and marched down the field with no timeouts and 59 seconds to get the Chargers in easy FG range. Rookie Kicker Younghoe Koo, with ice in his veins, stepped up and knocked down the chip shot FG.
Chargers win 29-27
