The Seattle Seahawks rebounded from a shaky offensive start on Sunday to beat the Packers 24-10. While coming out of Lambeau with a win is no easy task, Seattle's defense proved that they were up to the challenge, forcing Aaron Rodgers to commit 3 turnovers, a rare occurrence for the two time league MVP. The Seahawks strong defensive effort included 2 red zone interceptions, highlighted by a pick-6 by offseason free agent acquisition OLB Travis Feeney.
The Seahawks struggled to move the ball on the ground, as Eddie Lacy finished the game with 18 carries for 49 scoreless yards. Russell Wilson looked rusty out of the gate, throwing an interception on Seattle's first offensive series of the game, but overcame his early struggles, completing 20 of 26 pass attempts for 242 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also threw 2 interceptions.
During his post game press conference, Seattle coach Shawn Springs said "we didn't play our best football today, but we came out of the game with a win and that's all that matters." Springs said he hopes to limit the turnovers going forward.
The key to the Seahawks victory appeared to be on 3rd down, where they converted 79% of their opportunities, compared to just 17% for the Packers. "We made plays when it mattered most" said quarterback Russell Wilson "they played a physical game, but it's always a good feeling to get a tough win on the road."
Seattle (1-0) looks to build off their strong start as they take on the 49ers at home. The Packers (0-1) travel to Atlanta for a rematch of the NFC championship game.
