The SFL season kicked off Thursday night and it kicked off in style for the LA Chargers. The game was started 3 times because of power failures @ the Denver Stadium. Denver jumped out 14-3 before power failures caused a total restart in the game. 2nd game Chargers took control and marched down the field before a 2nd power outage. In the 3rd game Denver paid it's light bill and the game was able to play with no stops.
"Getting a peek at what the Broncos wanted to do in the 1st attempt was big for our Defense, said Coach Gambler. We haven't even been practicing the past 2-3 weeks if we are being honest. We wanted our guys to get a complete total reset before game 1. Definitely don't encourage anyone to follow this strategy," laughed Gambler.
The highly touted Denver offense was held to 24 points, 203 passing yards and 94 rushing. Chargers defense also forced 6 INTs and 7 sacks. LAC was led on defense by DE Melvin Ingram and OLB Jeremiah Attaochu with 2 sacks each.
The offense found a nice rhythm. Rivers was 16/20 for 282 yards and 1 TD. Tyrell Williams was the only 100+ yard WR for the Chargers. "We have to get better in the RedZone. I love our kicker but I don't want him kicking 4 FG's. The difference in this being a blowout and a close game was our RedZone offense", said Gambler.
Next week the Chargers take on a familiar foe in owner Fast HB who know resides in Miami.
