Just to recap the Patriots season as of now. We are sitting at 9-4 just coming off a huge division win versus the Jets. With only three more games remaining this season we are right on the edge of Playoffs with the Patriots in a win now mode. On the Brightside the Patriots are 4-0 in division play and with 2 more divisional games left they hope to end on a good note. The team ranks 3rd in points scored (37.0), 4th in YPG (421.6), 7th in passing (329.2), 12th in rushing (92.5). As for defense the teams rank 9th in points allowed (24.0), 21st in yards allowed (363.9), 25th in passing (284.5), and 10th in rushing (79.5). Defense was the key this offseason. It was one of the many reasons we came up short in the playoffs last season. Personally the points allowed has really improved. Instead of trying to win games only with my offense I was able to close games with defensive stands. Even though we have 3 more games remaining this season the team knows who their top performer has been. Matt Saracen aka QB1 has stepped up in a Tom Brady to Drew Bledsoe type of way. This offseason we had to say goodbye to the greatest player of all time, Tom Brady. With him gone the shoes to fill have a ton of pressure. We drafted Will Grier in the 1st round pick 28 in the hopes to try and get a stable QB for many years to come. With all that pressure he began to crumble. He averaged 13 touchdowns with 14 Int. With a young QB it is okay to struggle in the beginning of their careers so they can learn how to operate in a NFL offense. Well that was the case until Will Grier suffered a dislocated shoulder and was out for 5 weeks. Injuries sometimes take the best of them but in that situation its next man up. In this case next man up was rookie Matt Saracen out of East Texas Tech. While Will Grier was away QB1 was 179 for 275 for 2789 yards with 26 touchdowns and 4 Interceptions. Enough to remain the starter for at least the rest of the season. The remaining season schedule includes. The Dolphins (3-9), Eagles (5-6-1), Bills (4-9).
