When it rains, it pours, and boy is it pouring in Carolina as another one bites the dust.
Wide Receiver Kelvin Benjamin suffered an aparant rib injury during their most recent loss to the Atlanta Falcons as he trotted towards the end zone. Benjamin was wrapped up at the one, fell akwardly and was unable to return to the game.
Sporting a 3-10 record the Panthers figured it was best to keep their star wide-out from aggrevating what seems to a broken rib and will place him on injured-reserve for the final 3 weeks.
In his absence 2nd year man Darqueze Cooley will try to fill the shoes Benjamin left behind while rookie Bruce McCellin will make his first start of his career.
Benjmain was able to bring in 42 targets so far this season, recording 675 yards and finding the endzone 3 times.
McCellin, the Kansas State product, has seen limited snaps, but has been effective during his time. He's matched Benjamin in touchdowns with 3, but has only hauled in 13 passes for 188 yards.
Relying on a 4th round pick can sometimes backfire, but McCellin showed promise during his pre-draft phase and could solidy himself within this line up with a bump in playing time.
