Midweek notes from Valley Ranch:
- RBs Keevon Arnold and Demarco Murray are locked in heated battle over the starting RB position. Source say Arnold really impressed coaches during his two week run at RB while Murray was out with an injury. be interesting to see who starts verssus Washington.
- Speaking of injury replacement, Escobar flashed some of the reasons hy the Cowboys selected him against the Ravens in week 2. 4 catches for 60 yard including some tough sideline catches. Escobar has been getting more reps while Jason Witten rehabs an injury. There is no timetable for Wittens return as of yet.
- DT Henry Melton should be back on the field for week 3 as well. Spoke briefly to Melton who is excited to pair up with rookie Nico Vazquez. The two were expected to be a formidable tandem at DT bt Melton has missed two games due to injury. Melton, Vazquez, hardy and Lawrence could be a problem as D-Line if things go according to plan.
- Rookie Clemsie Lofton has shown flashes of his abillity but Coach Coldwar believes he will even better when his route tree is expanded. at Richmond, Lofton ws able to use his speed to beat defenders. At the NFL level he will have to polish his route running to get open more often. He caught his first career TD in week one which was a good sign. No other Cowboys wr has a td catch so far.
