The Cowboys dropped their season opener to the Carolina Panthers 27-11 in the season opener on the road. The Cowboys fought hard but were overcome with turnover issues that plagued them all game. Ryan Mallet started for the Boys who were without 1st round pick QB Hansen Boone. Boone injured his shoulder in the first pre-season game nd isn't expected to play until possibly week 3.
Ryan Mallet quickly showed fans why Boone was drafted in the first round as he went 13-26 for 156 yard and 5 ints and only one meaningless late game touchdown. The Cowboys avoided a shutout. The lone bright spot for the Cowboys was 2n yer player RB Keevon Arnold. Arnold carried the ball 12 times for 98 yards in the absence of Demarco Murray. Rumblings around Valley Ranch are that Keevon may battle for the starting spot even Murray returns from a hand injury in week 2.
The Cowboys have been hit by the injury bug and lost significant players in the final preseason game. jason Witten, Henry Melton, Demarco Murray and Hansen Boone all missed the opening game of the season. Murray is the only player who should be good to go for week 2. Coach Coldwar spoke briefly with reporters after the game but hinted that veteran Tony Romo may start in week 2 if mallet does not impress during the next week of practice. It will be a tough turnaroud for Dallas as they take on Baltimore and Coach Lbz.
