Cowboys training camp ended last week in Oxnard, CA and there has been a buzz about some the new Cowboys rookies. Fans are excited to get a glimpse of rookie QB Hansen Boone and DT Nico Vazquez. Vazquez was flew under the radar at Sout Carolina but caught the attention of Cowboys scouts for his consistent stellar play versus SEC offensive lineman. At the Senior Bowl, Vazquez was virtually unblockable, reminiscent of Ndamukong Suh. This carried over to training camp where even the overpowering Cowboys O line had trouble blocking him. The Cowboys D-Line looks to be a strength this season with Hardy, Lawrence and Melton returrning and the addition of Nico "Grievous" Vazquez.
There are question marks surrounding QB Hansen Boone. Scouts in the Cowboys camp were divided as to whether or not the Cowboys should even draft a QB, with many wanting to stick with Romo or go with Mallet another year. With Romo turning 37 this season, the time to find his replacement is now. Hansen looks good on tape, is mobile, has a stroing arm and can make all the throws. But its hard to judge a QB until the bullets start flying but all of the tools are there. Early on the Cowboys will look to rely on their run game and their defense to make tthe game more managable for Boone. The Cowboys continue to search for weapons at WR and Terrence Williams and rookie Clemsie Lofton are expected to contribute heavily. The Cowboys GM/Coach ColdWar stated the Cowboys will keep their eyes and ears open for possible trades or free agent pickups to acquire a legit #1 WR. Ever since the worst trade in SFL history which saw Dez Bryant sent to Carolina for a DEand a late 1st round pick (why the f*ck was this allowed) the Cowboys have been patchworking their WR corps. It remains to be seen if they have the right combination. Pre-Season week 1 is upon so the we will find out soon enough.
