"Trap game. That's what you call a game that you play against an opponent whose record isn't comparable but whose ability is comparable. That's what this was. We played a REALLY good Detroit Lions team and barely won. Shout out to Coach Fast HB. Looking forward to our future battles" said Coach Cypha who was still amped after his team got a clean sweep over their division foe. "We played smartly but too conservative early. Offense, defense, special teams....everyone was playing too relaxed. We amped it up in the 4th quarter and made sure we closed the game up" said QB Keevin Steed who had a good but conservative game passing the football as he went 25/31 for only 249 yards and 3 TD passes and had an INT on a deep pass to end regulation.
The defense showed up late but at least they showed up. Newly converted/acquired DT Jurrell Casey was the finisher in this game as he had two second half QB tackles to help the defense prevent the Detroit Lions from scoring the decisive 3 points to win the game in OT. "Better late than never but never late is better. I am glad we were able to come into Detroit and get the win but man, we have got to do a better job with getting pressure on the QB early and often like we're paid to do.
Side Notes & Parting Shots
CB Spencer Booth was the unheralded POTG as he had three deflections off of 50+ yard passes downfield.
HB Curtis Cobbs was relatively ineffective today as he only had 61 yards on 23 carries but aided in getting the field position necessary for the game winning kick.
WR Kenan Quick, who was filling in for WRs Malcolm Herzlich and Monte Rouse, had himself a game with 5 catches for 63 yards and 2 clutch TDs.
Next week, the (10-1) Chicago Bears will take on the (2-9) Kansas City Chiefs.
