RML Madden 21 Info
7 seasons into RML Madden 20, it's time to start thinking toward the future regarding Madden 21. This league has been moving at an amazing pace. It has been awesome to see the passion grow for this league over the past 8 months. The following is an outlook of what panel has discussed regarding the end of Madden 20 and the transition into Madden 21. If you have any qualms or disagreements, feel free to share them, as we always want to hear from the league and do what's best for the majority.
Keepers
Information on keepers has been handed out before, but we want to reiterate those details, while also expanding on the logistics. So, here it goes:
1. Keepers will be happening again for Madden 21. If you don't know what that means, it means that each team will choose 1 Madden-Created Player to bring over from RML Madden 20 to RML Madden 21.
2. As mentioned before, each team will be allowed ONLY 1 KEEPER this time. There are no restrictions as far as age, overall, or any other attributes. The only qualification is that the player has to be created by Madden. This means that real life players and Real Rookies are not eligible, because they will already be in the game in Madden 21.
If you want an easy way to find out if someone is keeper eligible or not, if their Experience shows 2+ years less than the current RML season, then they are keeper eligible.
(Ex: Player shows 5 years EXP during Season 7 would be eligible. Players showing 6 years EXP in Season 7 are not eligible, because they would have been a rookie in Season 1 2019).
3. Keepers can be LOCKED IN beginning after Season 7 playoffs end. This means that you can tell us who you want your keeper to be during Season 7 offseason, or any time after that.
***Once you have locked in your keeper, YOU CAN NOT CHANGE IT. Once the keeper is locked in, the User will have 1 more year of development with said keeper. After 1 full season of development, the Keeper will maintain their Age, Overall, and all attribute points at the 1 year mark after lock in. The User can continue to develop and use the keeper as they wish, but the keeper's information at that time will be used for Madden 21.
*** "LOCK IN" can only be made official in the offseason. This is to help keep track of the 1 full year of development after the lock ins. Users may state their lock in preference at any time during the season, and they will be added to the spreadsheet. Panel will then confirm the lock in during the following offseason, and will inform the User that their Season of Development will begin the next season. Panel will then record the Age, Overall, and Attributes of the Keeper after the Season Of Dev has completed.
4. ***If you have locked in a keeper any time after Season 7 and choose to leave the league before the full season of development ends, then the keeper will be developed by the new user. The keeper will remain locked in, so you still get him for Madden 21 and will still have whatever attributes and information they have 1 year after the initial lock in.
5.*** RML Users who play until the end of Madden 20 will be rewarded an additional Development Upgrade for their Madden 21 Keeper, OR they may add 6 Attribute Points to their keeper's attributes (Max 1 att point per physical attribute, like Speed/Accel). Players who leave before the end of Madden 20 will not be punished in any way.
***6. KEEPER POOL***
Teams that chose not to select or lock in a keeper will be eligible for the RML Keeper Pool at the end of the Madden 20 cycle. This will also include teams that are either unoccupied or between owners at the time of the Keeper Pool Draft.
The Keeper Pool Draft will be held after all teams have selected their keeper or have opted in to the Keeper Pool.
Players in the Keeper Pool will not keep their Dev trait. They will all be given Star (or the equivalent) Dev for Madden 21. Players in the Keeper Pool will enter Madden 21 at the age they were at the end of Madden 20 cycle. All information on Keeper Pool players will be available and public at the time of the Keeper Pool Draft.
The Keeper Pool Draft Order will be completely randomized.
Madden 21 Teams
Any RML member who was with us during all 7 seasons of RML Madden 20 so far, will automatically get a spot in Madden 21.
As far as the remaining teams go, the main factors in those decisions will be longevity in the league, how late in the year the user stayed, and how frequently they played their games. These decisions will be made by panel, and many of the newer members should be aware that their place in RML is temporary, for now. As always, if users show they are good members, they will be welcomed when spots open up in Madden 21. We expect to have more than 32 users wanting to join again, so likely there will be another waitlist.
As of right now, the majority of the league is interested in continuing to keep the league running for as long as possible until Madden 21. That may change down the road as teams get more burnt out. Playing a game this much and this long takes it's toll. We understand that and we don't want to punish anyone for feeling burnt out and wanting to have a break. We will continue to gauge league interest season by season to see how everyone feels.
All of this information is subject to change, especially if Madden 21 has delays due to COVID 19 or any other pressing issues.
As far as how teams will be selected for Madden 21 - We have yet to determine the best solution at this time. Here are some of the ideas we have been hearing and thinking about:
1. Lottery Draft Team selection weighted based on the number of games played in Madden 20
2. Silent Auction type selection based on each user's team preference (similar to Madden 20 selection)
3. Manually place teams based on performance and overall team records from Madden 20 (Least likely option)
If you have any other suggestions for team selection options, or keepers, or any other issues regarding the transition to Madden 21, please let panel know.
Thank you all again for a great Madden cycle so far!
