Undeniably the 5 Worst Teams Based on Five Rounds of the RML Fantasy Draft

The intent of this post is simply to highlight the incompetent owners of RML who will likely be doomed to seasons of disappointemt due to their objectively bad team building skills.

NO ORDER, too mcuh work to reorganize

(round, position, full name, age, overall, development trait, grade)

5. Raiders

1st round - QB Josh Rosen, 21 y/o, 78 overall, Quick, C-

2nd round - SS Derwin James, 22 y/o, 80 overall, Star, C

3rd round - WR DJ Moore, 21 y/o, 77 overall, Star, B

4th round - TE Hunter Henry, 23 y/o, 88 overall, Star, A-

5th round - CB Donte Jackson, 22 y/o, 74 overall, Quick, C+

This Raiders undeniably picked up some great young pieces with favorable development traits, but most of these players wont be playing at a high level until after at least a year of progression. Rosen in the 1st particularly bothers me due to the plethora of competent QBs that's can be drafted much later, but Hunter Henry in the 4th is a bit of a steal in my opinion. Derwin in the 2nd round is also decent value, but with the versatile and even younger Minkah Fitzpatrick still on the board I have to question the decision making a little bit. There's no doubt that DJ Moore is going to develop into a great receiver and Donte Jackson will likely become a studly corner, but through 5 rounds of the RML M19 draft I think this Raiders team lacks immediate impact players who will help the team make a deep playoff run during the early seasons of RML.

[Worst pick - QB Josh Rosen]

4. Steelers

1st round - QB Marcus Mariota, 24 y/o, 80 overall, Star, C+

2nd round - WR Mike Evans, 25 y/o, 89 overall, Star, B

3rd round - WR DJ Chark, 21 y/o, 72 overall, Quick, D+

4th round - TE OJ Howard, 23 y/o, 80 overall, Star, B+

5th round - CB Kevin King, 23 y/o, 77 overall, Normal, D

I'm not gonna lie, this draft really confuses me. While picking 32nd in a fantasy draft is less than ideal, it does offer owners a chance to make two really solid bookend picks to build your team around. For the most part I would say the Steelers were successful in doing that, but after those first two picks things get a little weird. The obvious headscratcher is DJ Chark in the 3rd. I've never really bought into the whole super speedy WR cheese strats that RML loves so much, but I think even John Ross lovers were taken aback by Chark going so early. Before the likes of Juju Smith-Schuster, Michael Thomas, Antonio Brown(!), and Calvin Ridley. The Steelers make a nice pick in the 4th adding yet another offensive weapon in OJ Howard, but follow it up by drafting normal development Kevin King. King really doesn't impress me in any way. Luckily for the Steelers he is only 23 years old, but with normal development and coverage stats in the low 70's I have a hard time seeing him develop into anything more than a #2 corner, which frankly isn't good enough in the 5th round.

[Worst pick(s) - WR DJ Chark/CB Kevin King]

3. Chargers

1st round - DE Aaron Donald, 27 y/o, 99 overall, Superstar, A-

2nd round - LB Von Miller, 29 y/o, 99 overall, Superstar, C+

3rd round - LB Lavonte David, 28 y/o, 95 overall, Star, B

4th round - TE Rob Gronkowski, 29 y/o, 99 overall, Superstar, C-

5th round - TE Travis Kelce, 28 y/o, 95 overall, Superstar, D

How does a team with three 99 overall players make a list of the worst teams?

While Donald is tied for the oldest player taken in the first round at 27 years old, he also happens to be an absolute god at football and in Madden making him a completely acceptable pick at 6. I can even get on board with adding Von Miller and Lavonte David despite them both being on the wrong side of 20. But then you go and draft Gronk and Kelce back-to-back??? As much as I have criticized teams for focusing on youth and potential over immediate impact players, this decrepit Chargers draft class also rubs me the wrong way. Donald/Miller/David are going to flourish for a few seasons before they slowly begin to regress into really good players who aren't fast anymore/useless, but what happens after that? The Chargers had a chance to address this issue in the 4th and 5th rounds, but completely failed to do so. With players like Dalvin Cook, Davante Adams, Leonard Williams and Derrick Henry still available, the Chargers had an opportunity to add some much needed youth to a great defensive core. While Gronk and Kelce are very talented players, unless the Chargers can win a super bowl in the first couple seasons of RML I think they will regret not adding a little youth and position diversity with those two picks.

[Worst pick(s) - TE Travis Kelce/TE Rob Gronkowski]

2. Cowboys

1st round - LB Jadeveon Clowney, 25 y/o, 91 overall, Superstar, B+

2nd round - CB Jaire Alexander, 21 y/o, 77 overall, Star, A-

3rd round - LB Danielle Hunter, 23 y/o, 80 overall, Quick, C+

4th round - FS TJ Green, 23 y/o, 78 overall, Quick, C

5th round - OL Connor Williams, 21 y/o, 76 overall. Quick, D+

The Cowboys started off their draft really well securing two young and talented players in Jadeveon Clowney and Jaire Alexander. After that I think some of the picks are bit questionable. First off, while Danielle Hunter is a solid piece, I don't think he is good enough to warrant a 3rd round pick, especially on a team that already has a superb pass rusher. I see the potential with Hunter, but you can't reach for a player and not have that player be a position of need. While I don't think TJ Green is a horrible pick, I don't value him as a 4th rounder, especially considering some of the guys who were picked soon after him. Rounding out the first five picks with OL Connor Williams definitely doesn't bolster my opinion of this draft. In the end, the Cowboys picked up two defensive cornerstones in Clowney and Alexander who should make their defense scary for the entirety on M19, but unfortunately did not get great value out of their following selections.

[Worst pick - OL Connor Williams]

1. Panthers

1st round - QB Patrick Mahomes, 22 y/o, 77 overall, Quick, D+

2nd round - HB Jordan Howard, 23 y/o, 86 overall, Star, B

3rd round - LB CJ Mosley, 26 y/o, 86 overall, Quick, C+

4th round - OL Ali Marpet, 25 y/o, 82 overall, Quick, C+

5th round - WR Jarvis Landry, 25 y/o, 87 overall, Quick, B-

Patrick Mahomes 13th overall is alone enough reason to make this list. Not only do I think QB has been a massively overvalued position in this draft, but I don't even think Mahomes was the best developmental QB on the board at the time he was picked. Simply compare Mahomes to someone like Jared Goff who, in my opinion, has better or at least comparable stats to Mahomes yet slid to the 3rd round. The Panthers were able to rebound with a pretty solid selection in the 2nd grabbing Jordan Howard, but lose me again when they select linebacker CJ Mosley in the 3rd. While Mosley is far from a bad player, at 26 years old with quick dev, it's pretty unlikely he ever becomes the top-tier player you expect out of a 3rd round pick. While Marpet is a bit of a reach, I can respect the Panther's commitment to Mahomes as they also pick up an elite pass catcher in Jarvis Landry in the 5th round. All in all, this team's draft class is extremely reliant on Mahomes living up to his 13th pick value and becoming a top 5 QB in RML. If that doesn't happen I think the Panthers will regret not securing a guaranteed superstar with their early pick.

[Worst pick - QB Patrick Mahomes]
