Titans Bye Week Check in

The Tennesee Titans have reached their bye week and again are in first place in the AFC South with a record of 4-1. Many were suprised to see 3rd round rookie Malik Willis win the starting job over incumbent starter Ryan Tannihill, but the descison is one new Head Coach Lincoln Riley has ran with and not looked back from in the early stages of his NFL Coaching Career.

The Titans have had a dominating run offense this season en route to a 4-1 start as they lead the NFL in total rushing yards and tied for the lead in touchdowns a little over a quarter of the way through the 2022 season. The combo of Malik Willis and Derrick Henry is proving to give opposing defenses headaches as they each are over 500 yards on the ground this season and have 2 and 7 touchdowns respectively.

Rookie Wrs Racey McMath and Treylon Burks are also getting it done on the outside as they both are averging 70 yards per game with 3 touchdowns each on the Season. They can be credited as a big reason Malik Willis has been able to attack defenses vertically while also being efficent. Right now Willis is sitting at a 64% completion percentage but that has been on the rise these past couple weeks. He also has 11 passing touchdowns to only 4 interceptions on the year. For a rookie who was thought to be on the bench majority of the year, he has come out and put his name at the top of the ROTY list at this point of the season.

The biggest story may be how well this defense has played. Right now they have the 8th best defense in yards allowed and are 4th in the league in points allowed. A bend dont break defensive mentality combined with ball hawks all over the secondary has allowed this defense to play risky. 2nd year corner back Caleb Farley has shut down one side of the field all year and when targeted he has made opposing Qbs pay with 6 intercaeptions in only 5 games and 1 of them going for a touchdown.

Overall you have to be very pleased with how the titans have played so far and have to be excited for the future of this team. With 2 divisonal games coming up agasint the colts and texans, the Titans will look to build a commanding lead for the division crown and join the race for becomming the AFC #1 Seed and secure homefield advantage for the playoffs.
