NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Miami Dolphins did just enough to pull out a win on the road against the New Orleans Saints.
Rookie Leo Moss stole the show Sunday to lead the Dolphins to a 27-21 victory. He became the fourth player since the AFL/NFL merger to pull off the triple crown — throwing for a TD, rushing for a TD, and receiving a TD — joining the likes of LaDainian Tomlinson, Walter Payton, and David Patten.
"I just went out there to try and do my best," Moss said "It's just fun to be part of a win. This is a big win."
Dan Marino had another off night, throwing for 147 yards and only completing 11 of 21 passes. He had one touchdown and three interceptions.
The Dolphins were able to rally and overcome the turnovers to pull off their first win of the season.
"It's always good to win, that's why these guys put all the blood, sweat and tears in," said coach Pat Hearn, a Belichick protege. "I'm happy we can bring some joy to our fans, because they deserve it."
FAILING TO SCORE
The Dolphins forced crucial turnovers in the red zone Sunday, with two forced fumbles eliminating scoring chances. Overall the Dolphins forced three turnovers.
ALL MADDEN
Dolphins coach Pat Hearn went on a rant after the game about the All-Madden level of play. This “bull-s***” play style, according to Hearn, will only “lead to the demise of the EA franchise.” Hearn went on to bash Rosen, saying “I mean — how is it possible that Josh Rosen has the completion percentage that he has over the course of the first few games?”
