MIAMI, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins came into their Week 2 contest against the New York Jets looking to rebound after failing to show up for most of last week’s loss to the Houston Texans. New York’s passing attack made sure that wouldn’t happen.
The game was a shootout through the first three quarters. Ultimately, Marino made too many mistakes down the stretch and the Jets capitalized on them.
The 22-year-old quarterback showed his talent in the first half, dueling with rookie quarterback Brett Favre. Favre ended up with a much more efficient game, firing 25 for 28 passes for 359 yards and no turnovers.
Marino was 10 of 18 for 190 yards with 3 TD’s and 4 INT’s, his turnovers forcing the Dolphins to two straight losses.
Leo Moss was a bright spot for the Dolphins, accounting for 194 yards and 2 TD’s on 22 carries. He also pulled in a receiving TD.
"We didn't do enough to win the game," coach Pat Hearn said. "We couldn't finish. You've got to finish in this league if you want to win."
ANTHEM
Both teams stayed in the locker room for the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner." This caused a delay in the start of the game.
INJURIES
Dolphins Ereck Flowers left in the second half with an injury and did not return. Jets Brian Poole left in the second half and did not return.
