MIAMI, Fl. -- The Dan Marino era for the Miami Dolphins arrived in a rain soaked Hard Rock Stadium. The Texans stole the moment and will leave Miami with a victory.
The weather played a factor as Hurricane Consuela continues to barrel towards Florida’s coast. Several kicks were missed and wet conditions played a part in the three turnovers per side.
Marino looked just fine as Tagovailoa’s replacement, passing for three touchdowns Sunday, but ultimately was unable to overcome his three turnovers.
Rookies led a Dolphins offensive attack that was fairly well balanced, but they were unable to take advantage in the red zone. Marino only completed 48% of his passes, a number which will have to improve.
Miami struggled for most of the game offensively, piecing together drives but ultimately coming away with only 22 points.
“They weren’t ideal conditions but we settled down and started to move the ball a little bit” said Marino, playing his first career NFL game. "I think it was just a feeling-through process as well with coach Pat (Hearn), all of us getting on the same page… We will make the adjustments and execute better.”
STAR DEMANDS TRADE
Of note, Adam Schefter reported after the game that Tua Tagovailoa has demanded a trade from the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins front office is reportedly looking for at least a first round pick in return for the talented young QB.
Tagovailoa had “no comment” after the game, but later tweeted out the following:
“I made @JalenHurts look like ass in the Natty…@DanMarino is gonna b ass…Start me or trade me!”
No clue why Tagovailoa decided to take a shot at Hurts there, but we’ll monitor the situation.
