The Bills went on the road to the Jets in Week 2 of the 2022 season. With a second straight AFC East division game, everyone knew that their A game was needed and everyone made sure they did.
Game 2 of Jameis Whitfield’s NFL career as a quarterback was another strong showing, going perfect from the field 13 of 13 passes with 245 yards and 4 TDs throw the air. He also added 3 carries for 77 yards and another 1 TD on the ground. Jameis did have a fumble on the ground but luckily the offense was able to recover that fumble. On the receiving end, 2nd year receiver Phillip Bryan from Cincinnati had 4 catches for 148 yards and 3 TDs. The offense was also bolstered by another great performance from Thurman Thomas with 15 carries for 111 yards.
On the defensive side, Tre’Davious White got in on the action again with an INT. Colby Hartley also had a big play on a screen pass with a forced and recovered fumble on the same play! Great stuff out of the young 2nd year player transitioning from safety to MLB this year. CB Anthony Averett also showed up with a great pick-six to help push the lead out further for the Bills.
The final score ended up being 48-14 in favor of the Bills. Going into week 3, the Bills get their first home game vs the LA Chargers. The Chargers return most of their AFC Championship team but with a major change in coaching, it could mean a different outcome in comparison to last year’s matchup where the Bills lost. We shall see how this game plays out and how it impacts the rest of the AFC.
