MOF S61 Week #1 Game of the Week

MOF Season #61 kicked off today and we are looking to get back at it. The Game of the Week of course would have to be MackDaddy and the Chargers vs. Knightnoles and the Broncos. This game includes 6 of the last 7 Superbowl Champions. That would include 5 straight Championships between these two teams, with each winning one in the last two seasons.

Breaking Down the Broncos

The Broncos are the defending Champions. They are led by QB Jenkins who last season threw for 4,328 yards on 262 completions. He spread the ball around all ways. Handing it to RB Lindsay 249 times and he gained 1,626 yards with it. He threw it to multiple receivers but WR Sutton and Hamler both had over 1,000 yards. On the Defensive side they are led by the Safeties Mathieu and Simmons who both had over 10 interceptions last Season. The leader in the middle is MLB Wagner who led the team in tackles and who could forget ROLB Chubb destroying backfields bringing in 18 sacks.

Breaking Down the Chargers

The Chargers had another great season making the playoffs but falling short. They are led by QB Herbert who completed 77% of his passes last season for 4307 yards. He did a commanding job getting the ball into the right hands whether it be his RB Ekeler who ran for 1,451 yards on 229 touches and caught the ball an amazing 83 times for 760 more yards leading the team in receptions. When he wanted the long ball though it would not go to anyone else besides WR Diggs who lead the team in receiving yards with 1,143. On the Defensive side they are lead in the secondary by CBs King and Hayward Jr. who led the team in interceptions. MLB Murry Jr. lead the team in tackles with 48 and kept causing havoc all over the field while LE Bosa recked havoc on the backfield forcing 16 sacks.

Keys to the Game

In the last two seasons they have played 5 times. The Broncos lead the series 8-2-1 against the Chargers. Now that do not give me reason to believe that MackDaddy and the Chargers cannot pull it off. By the stats if the Chargers can control the ball and manage the clock in his favor by long drives, he can keep the high-powered offense of the Broncos off the field. I would love to see this game go the way of MackDaddy but my gut tells me that if he cannot control the clock and work it to his favor it will go the way of Knightnoles. He will also have to limit turnovers as last season alone against the Broncos Herbert threw 8 of his 25 interceptions. So if he can do what I have as the keys to the game he will win if not Broncos run away with another one in the series.

Prediction

Broncos 31-28
