Jets Fall Short of the Comeback

The Jets had very little problem moving the ball against the Chiefs for most of the game. Early in the game they stopped the chiefs and drove down the field but settled for a field goal. The Jets defense held again forcing the chiefs to punt again. The Chiefs were held scoreless in the first quarter for the first time this year. This time the Jets would drive and QB Bayless would be picked off by DB Burns and returned 94 yards for a Chiefs Touchdown. QB Bayless would throw another 2 interceptions in the 2nd quarter puting the Jets defense in a bind. At that point you could just feel the air deflate in the jets defense as they would give up another 10 points to the Chiefs offense in the 2nd quarter. At half the score was 17-3 with the Jets recieving the ball. In the 3rd quarter the Jets would punt the ball on its first drive and the chiefs would increase the lead to 24-3. Following that touchdown the Jets offensive said they had to pull it together. On its first play of that drive HB Guice would take the ball for a 43 yard scamper. The pursuing play QB Bayless would connect with WR Johnson for a 32 yard touchdown making the score 24-10. The Chiefs would score another touchdown at the top of the 4th quarter putting the Jets down 21 with just under 9 minutes to play. QB Bayless started the hurry up game and did really well not throwing any interceptions in the 2nd half. The Jets drive would take just over 2 minutes off the clock and end with Bayless finding Johnson for his 2nd touchdown pass. K Mann would miss the extra point keeping the Jets down 15 with 6:30 left in the game. The Chiefs next drive wouldnt go anywhere as the Jets defense held them along with Mahomes intentional grounding penalty. Bayless would go back to work hitting RB Allen for a nice screen pass and then Johnson for what Bayless thought was his 3rd touchdown but was stopped short at the 1 yard line. Knowing the Chiefs were locking down the run the Jets would be on 4th and 1. They turned to Bayless who connected with TE Byron for the touchdown. With just under 4 minutes left in the game the Jets needed a miracle. It didn't look like it would happen as Mahomes connected with McCree for 43 yards putting the Chiefs in field goal range. On 3rd and 5 from the Jets 28 yard line the miracle would happen. The Chiefs handed the ball to Edwards-Helaire fumbled the ball after being popped by MLB White. The Jets would drive down the field. It would come down to a 4th and 1 from the Chiefs 21 yard line. Bayless would run a draw and get 10. On the next play he would find Everett for his 4th touchdown of the day.  It would come down to the 2 point conversion where the Chiefs read Bayless like a book and would pick him off in the endzone. After the game and we caught up with Coach Duran and he said " Had we played this good in the first half we would have won the game and it wouldnt have been close. We have got to start getting touchdowns and not settling for field goals and we have to work better on offense. Our Defense did great. We didnt allow but 2 chunk plays all game which is way better then normal. I believe even though we lost that we still are moving in the right direction."
