Falcons Open Season 60 With Win Over Saints 36-17

The retooled Falcons opened up Season 60 Week 1 with a home victory over the Saints 36-17.

Jimmy Garoppola made his Falcons debut after replacing long time Falcons Matt Ryan by going 15 -24. 244 yards 3 tds, 2 int.He was a little shaky early with an overthrown int to Rookie FS F Davidson and then a pick to LB A Anzalone near the end of the 1st half.  But he settled down and played solid the rest of the way.

He was able to utilize the weapons on hand to his advantage.  WR C Ridley had 3 catches for 203 yards and 2 tds, including one that went for 99 yards..  Newly re-signed TE H Hurst went for 3 catches with 47 yards and 1 td. 

The defense held the Saints scoreless in the 2nd half after giving up 17 in the 1st half.  Falcons defense gathered 4 sacks, 3 ints, and 1 forced fumble. Newcomer Rookie K Mann had a sack and newly added FS S Redwine had  a pick.

The Falcons will drive up the road a bit to Nashville to face the Tennessee Titans in week 2.
