Falcons Rise, Ravens Nevermore 48-24

The Falcons bounce back from a last second heartbreaking loss to the Cardinals in week 1 and clip the wings of the Ravens 48-24 at home in MBS for Week 2.

The Falcons opened the game receiving the kick.  Mixing in the run with T Gurley and pass to J Jones and C Ridley, they paid off the 1st drive of the game with a 14 yard M Ryan to C Ridley pass for a TD.  7-0. Falcons

When the Ravens got the ball with 5:58 in the 1st quarter, they too proceeded to methodically march down the field on a long drive, converting several 3rd down opportunies, even a 3rd and 8th using the legs of QB L Jackson. But with :19 left in the quarter, the Falcons got a stop on 3rd and 14 and forced a Ravens punt. 

On ensuring drive, not only did the Falcons lose RT C Lindstrom to injury for 5 weeks, M Ryan threw a pick to CB M Humphrey.  The Ravens would soon cash in with a 58 yard bomb from L Jackson to speedy WR M Brown to tie the game. 7-7.

M Ryan would throw is 2nd interception of the game to SS K Jackson who return it inside Falcon territory at the 25 line. But the Falcons defense manage to keep them out of the endzone and forced a 39 yard field goal by KR J Tucker.  10-7 Ravens

With just 1:50 left in the half, the Falcons was able to move the ball down the field to kick a field goal with 57 seconds left. 10-10

The men in red and black was able to get the ball back with :43 second left after a 3 and out and a punt. They manage to get down to the 18 yard line before kicking go ahead field goal with :.03 left.  13-10 Falcons

The special teams then made a big play and may have turned the tide on the game as they force a fumble on the 2nd half opening kick off return and recovered.  M Ryan would cash in the great field position with his 2nd TD pass of the day to TE H Hurst.  20-10 Falcons

Now it was time for the defense to make a play.  On 3rd and 20, CB J Gladney picked off L Jackson. After a few plays, M Ryan again hit H Hurst on a blown coverage for a 33 yard TD.  27-10 Falcons

The Ravens, now playing with some desperation, put together a great drive and capped it off with 4 yard TD pass to WR J Grant to cut the lead. 27-17 Falcons

But the Falcons were not rattled.  They showed their pose with a long drive of their own and sealed it with M Ryan's 4th td throw of the day, this time a 2 yarder to J Jones.  34-17 Falcons.

On the next Ravens drive, CB AJ Terre got the pick and return it down to the 16 yard line.  The Falcons would hit paydirt game with a 2 yard TD run by T Gurley. 41-17.

With just 5:05 left, Falcons again denied the Ravens forcing a 4th and 5 attempt that failed. A few plays later, T Gurley would scamper for a 44 yard TD.  48-17.

The Ravens, showing some pride, with 2:53 left, got the ball and went down the field and eventually found TE M Andrews for a 12 yard score. 48-24. Falcons.

After a 3 and out, the Ravens would get the ball back but MLB D Jone finish the game with a sack of L Jackson.

The Falcons will host division rival Tampa Bay next week in week 3.
