As the Atlanta Falcons enter MOF season 59, the general consensus is that they will be Matt Ryan's final year in the Falcon black and red. So, in the offseason, the team decided to add some weapons for him to use. First, they re-signed Russell Gage and Jaylen Guyton. Then, in the draft, in the 1st round they added 6'5" wide receiver from West Georgia Lloyd Sutherland. In the 3rd round, they grabbed the speedy 6'1" wide receiver from Buffalo Daniel Staley. Running back Austin Murphy from Texas Southern was added in the 4th round to provide depth behing Todd Gurley and Deon Hicks. In the 5th round, they grabbed a developmental lineman Dillon Barton from Louisville. At 6'5" and 319 lbs, he might be a potential replacement for Dan Feeney when his contract ends.
On defense, The Falcons had to add pieces since they let DE Dante Fowler and DT Tyeler Davison walk in free agency. The drafted 6'3" 245 ln ROLB Blake Foote from Wisconsin in the 2nd round and added 6'4" 300 lb DT Laron Lockley in the 6th round.
The Falcons won the NFC South with a 11-5 record but lost a heartbreaker in the 1st round of the playoffs vs the Cardinals. They return weaapons like Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Todd Gurley and Hayden Hurts. On defense, they re-signed LB Foyesade Oloukun, who when paired with MLB Deion Jones forn one of the fastest LB duos in the league.
The secondary is young but talented with Kendall Sheffield, Isaiah Oliver, AJ Terrell and Jeff Gladney at cornerback position and up and coming Kyle Cone and Dom Duke at the safety position with Damontee Kazee.
The team hopes to finally send Matt Ryan out with a bang with a deep playoff run and chance at the Superbowl.
