San Francisco, AP (February 7, 2021) - Week 1 of the Season 60 season did not start off as planned for the San Francisco 49ers. They drop the game to the Arizona Cardinals 22-20. The Cardinals debuted a new QB Jacob Eason who went 24-29 for 276 yards and 2 TDs, great replacement of Kyler Murray. The 49ers had a debut of their own, Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers went 19-21 for 171 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. Rodgers was great all game, except 1 tip toe interception on the sideline by Arizona.

The 49ers led most of the 2nd half. The Cardinals kicked a FG to make the score 20-19 with about 4 minutes left. The 49ers were unable to convert a 3rd and 6 and had to punt it away with a little over 2 minutes left. The Cardinals converted a couple of first downs, then Eason was sacked and Njoku was tackled for a loss the next play. It was 3rd and 18 but the Cardinals were able to gain 17 yards to the 49ers 23 yard line.

4th and inches with 55 seconds left, and no timeouts for the 49ers, the Cardinals decided to go for it instead of kicking the go ahead FG. It paid off as Eason hit Njoku for 21 yards as he dove down at the 2 yard line. The Cardinals were able to run the clock down to 3 seconds for the game winning FG.
