(Week 4) Early MVP-Candidates (With Rankings Too)

by MickeyTrapmouse | 2 months ago | 0 Comments

It is still early in the season, but here are some of the early MVP-Candidates that have made an impact at the start of the season (Season 58), and their respective rankings as well.

1. Derek Carr:(Saints): (1,659 Yards), (19/9:TD/INT), (99/142 (69%) Completion Rate), (122.0 Passer Rating)
-Overview-
Derek Carr has been balling out for Rookie User/Coach Hollywood. MickeyLeague experts in the Pre-Season would have never guessed the Saints User to have success at this extent, let alone Derek Carr being in the lead for the MVP award at any point of the season! Derek Carr has been a pivotal piece to the offense, and has been a very solid gunslinger style QB for the Saints. This alone has turned the Saints into an explosive offense, and the stats behind Carr's success shows why he is an early MVP-Candidate!
-Pros-
The main pro for Derek Carr is that he is the current MVP leader, and a stat leader in a lot of categories, which means he has more room for errors, or off games without it depleting his rank in the MVP race too much later in the season. He is also fitting in with an offensive system that has thrived in the passing game, and has made Derek Carr adapt into a successful gunslinger, as opposed to his old style of being a West Coast QB.
-Cons-
The Saints hot streak could end, or go down later in the season, which can result in Carr not putting up elite numbers like he has been the first 4 weeks of the season. There are also more skilled users who have QBs that are not far behind Carr in the MVP race, and are proven to be more consistent with winning MVP awards with their players, and have a higher reputation in terms of making the Playoffs consistently.

2. Bo Nix:(Broncos): (1,603 Yards), (13/5:TD/INT), (69/112 (61%) Completion Rate), (125.5 Passer Rating)
-Overview-
Bo Nix has been very stellar just like many QB's under the Air Raid system that iLz Gor has emplored into his offenses the last few MickeyLeagues. iLz Gor is able to turn any QB into a superstar through his offense, and Nix is improving each week, and takes a step closer into turning into the QB iLz Gor needs after each game! The stats so far have shown the success of Bo Nix, and also supports why he is currently #2 in the MVP race.
-Pros-
The main positive for Bo Nix is that he will improve each week, and will most likely get consistently better, as his overall will improve, and the fact that iLz Gor will get more adapted to this QB (similar to how iLz Gor developed Trey Lance with his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys last league). Bo Nix also has the best 'Air Raid' offense coach in the league right now, fits in with that style, and will naturally put up solid passing numbers in the 'Air Raid' offensive system!
-Cons-
Even with Gor being good at the game the 'Air Raid' offensive system has a downside. Yes there will be a lot of TDs/Passing Yards, but the 'Air Raid' system opens up opportunity to throw a lot of picks, or cause quick 3-and-out drives that keep the Offense off the field, which results in a low time of possession stat for the Offense at the end of games. Another thing is that iLz Gor has decent weapons for Nix, but are nothing compared to the weapons Gor used to work with on older teams he was the User/Coached for! This can become an issue for Nix's MVP race if Gor plays a competent user with a team above an 85 Overall Rating!

3. Derrick Henry:(Ravens): (668 Yards), (6 TDs), (0 Fumbles)
-Overview-
Derrick Henry has had a monster season so far, and currently has 200 more yards than the 2nd place rusher as of Week 4! Derrick Henry also put up over 200 yards in Weeks 1, and 2 to make that statement early on! He has shown why he is a 99 overall, and has been an amazing 'workhorse' runningback, and is the driving force behind the Ravens offense, along with his rushing counterpart Lamar Jackson.
-Pros-
Henry thrives under MickeyRaven's offense as it is a perfect fit for Henry, and Mickey. It is a West Coast Offense with an emphasis on the Power Run. The goal of MickeyRaven each game is to rely on smashmouth football with a stonewall defense, and an offense that can fight to get at least 3 yards a play, and control the clock. This is perfect for Henry as it gives him more reps, and allows him to be the natural 'powerback' that he is. The other benefit is that MickeyRaven's Ravens team has led the league in rushing the last 9 Seasons of MickeyLeague, and has led it in the last 11/12 seasons as well due to the style of the Offense, which opens up more opportunity for Henry to succeed.
-Cons-
One major con is that the Ravens still run a 'committee' style run-game despite Henry being absolute 99-Overall tank! Keaton Mitchell, and Lamar Jackson (Ocassionally Justice Hill also) get a good amount of carries from the Option game, and for plays designed for speedier runners. This takes reps away from Henry that could be potential breakout runs! The Ravens are also known to have one of the worst passing games most seasons in MickeyLeague, which could make smart defensive opponents box up Henry, and contain him all game. This can inevitably shutdown the whole Ravens offense, and result in a bad stat game for Derrick Henry. Another thing to note that is QBs have an easier time winning the award and keeping up with QBs as a Halfback could be a challenge if Henry is not consistently putting up MVP numbers every game!
