The Packers have gotten off to their best start of recent years, entering the halfway point of their season standing at 7-1 and first in the NFC North. The team's success has been propelled by their excellent defense, which currently ranks #1 in every major statistical category except rushing yards allowed. While the defense remains mostly the same as last year's the team did make a rare major in-season trade, trading their current 1st round pick and TE David Njoku to the Browns for CB Greedy Williams. Williams immediately took over the #2 CB role on the team, shadowing the top receiving threat not already blanketed by Jaire Alexander. This allowed the team to play matchups with CBs Kevin King and Parry Nickerson following receivers with similar skillsets around the field. An underrated impact of the trade was to allow rookie TE Chris Bolton to move into a starting role, where he as mostly received positive reviews. The other major trade made by the team was to send 2nd year, former first-round pick QB Darnell Levingston to the Jaguars for their 1st round pick next year. While some fans preferred the team to make Levingston the long-term starter, the move clears up any controversy at the QB position, making Jordan Love the undisputed starter and leader of the offense. Further cementing Love's status is a major contract extension he agreed to, locking him in as the Packers QB for the forseeable future.
