A SEASON IN REVIEW: Half Glass Full

Dallas Cowboys 2018-2019

We finished the year with an 8-8 record. A chance at the Wildcard spot was open in a winner take tall match-up against the New York Giants and we lost 24-14. In what was a culmination of the issues tormenting us throughout the season Dak Prescott had two costly Ints and Zeke could not get the run game going.  Prescott won NFC Player of the year on a strong 29 TDs 62% completions 3406 yard campaign with a 102.3 QBR, but most of his 15 Interceptions were in close games and had huge momentum swings. With no true #1 WR Michael Gallup caught 62 receptions which led the division but he was more of a possession receiver and there was no second option. Devon Cajuste at the tight end position had the next highest receiving yards. Zeke Elliot had a rough season fighting through injuries to finish with only 651 yards and 7 TDS. He will be entering his contract year and has expressed intrest in being the highest paid HB in the league. Talks are early but ownership is not keen to that idea.  The offense needs to find a better passing attack and the running game needs to get moving early in the game.

Defensively the passing defense struggled Byron Jones moves to Corner allowed Natrell  Jamerson to win NFC defensive rookie of the year, but Jones was burnt often on passing plays. No one on the defensive line put up sacks in the double digits, Demarcus Lawrence is looking for a long term deal, but his numbers this season does not back up the value he is demanding.  We are looking for more growth from Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch as the biggest deficiency came from cover the middle of the field. Tight end and slot wr feasted on the seam routes. We enter the offseason with a large cap space roughly 77 million and Pick 19 in the draft.

Offseason focus: Find a #1 WR ; Find a Strong Safety; Look for a Sub Package LB/Safety to cover and defend the run
