(AP) After starting off a dissapointing 0-2, the Kansas City Chiefs got their first win of the season with a 16-13 win over the Houston Texans. Early on it looked as though they would start the season 0-3, after the Texans opened the game with a 17 play 83 yard drive for a 7-0 lead. The Chiefs took the ensuing kickoff and orchestrated a long drive over their own, the drive consummated with a 1 yd plunge by 2nd year running back Marion Overstreet. However the Chiefs missed the PAT and the Texans ended the first quarter with a 7-6 lead. The second and third quarter we're pretty uneventful as the Texans scored two field goals to take a 13 to six lead going into the fourth quarter. The Chiefs opened the fourth quarter with a combination of the run and pass and the Chiefs tied the game up at 13 on a 3 yard touchdown pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to roundtree for his second touchdown of the game with 2:05 left. Not to be discouraged, the Texans came out with a heavy passing game and completed two passes for a total of 30 yds but on the third drop back Houston Texan quarterback Drew lock through a long interception to Chiefs free safety Juan Thornhill who returned the ball 15 yards to the Texans 46 yard line with a 1:03 seconds to go in the game. Mahomes wasted no time moving the Chiefs down the field and a screen pass to overstreet netted a gain of 28 yd and he ran out of bounds at the three yard line with 6 seconds left in the game. After a meaningful dive play and a timeout 8 year kicker Harrison Butker kick the game winner as Time expired. Coach SCALAID was jubilant after the victory. "Hey, it wasn't pretty but throw style points out the window. A win is a win. We are proud of our guys we got down twice before earlier in the season and we kind of imploded but today our guys were resilient and they stayed the course. This team has the makings of a formidable team if we do the things that we practice, in the games. We have a long season ahead of us and I look forward to the challenge" The 1-2 Kansas City Chiefs travel to Tennessee next week and take on the Tennessee Titans.
