NFC West Preview

Seattle Seahawks

  • Review of Seasons 6-13: With a Record of 44-83-1 and a single playoff appearance which came in the first season of the cycle, I think it’s safe to say the Seahawks didn’t really do much. Another team that couldn’t get the user love they needed to transition from the Legion of Boom into a new identity. This team didn’t have many redeeming qualities about it as they struggled to make any good or correct moves and it didn’t help they were in a division with two perennial NFC powerhouses. This time around the Seahawks were a dud and it’s not much else to say about the team.
  • Preview to Madden 19: With a team that is old and not anywhere near the level they were at their peak this team will definitely need to get a handle on how they will proceed with the future. Shank has a pretty tall task on his hands with this team so hopefully he has a sound plan in place. It’s tough to tell how Shank will so with being such a late addition to the last cycle he hasn’t given much to see yet, so with that being said I don’t think this Seahawks team will have a good go at it with a pretty good division and a tough conference.

Arizona Cardinals

  • Review of Seasons 6-13: Lightz had this Cardinals team firing on all cylinders as they were the only team in the league to make the playoffs every season. 2 Super Bowl titles, 3 conference championship appearances and 6 division titles to go along with an 11-6 playoff record and a 97-31 overall record is a ridiculous cycle. Looking back at the success they had this team was easily one of the best teams in the league consistently and Lightz made sure he will not be denied from making the playoffs. A couple AP’s for this team due to great production and with Lightz ability to continue to build and shape this team with good drafting and even better development shows just how well he handled this squad.
  • Preview to Madden 19: Although Lightz won’t be running this team anymore the next user for this team has done a lot in his small time in the league so the drop off shouldn’t be too much if at all. Suf will be taking on this team for the upcoming cycle and already has his plan in place on how this team will work for him. Suf proved in his short time with the Jets last cycle that he knows how to develop and get the most out of his guys so it’ll be a sight to see whether he can hold up with being one of the better guys in the league or will he fall to the pack? I think it’s the former but a nice dynamic that we’ll be able to see.

San Francisco 49ers

  • Review of Seasons 6-13: The Niners were a model of inconsistency throughout the cycle despite the 82-46 overall record. There were times when Roger had this team looking like a true juggernaut and times were I think he bit off a little more than he can chew in terms of making moves. The 9ers were essentially a revolving door of players where it seemed like most of his guys didn’t last on the team longer than maybe 2 or 3 seasons. The times were this team looked good though they looked really good even managing to steal 2 division titles from their rival Cards as well as making the postseason 4 times with a 3-4 record and 2 conference championship appearances. Overall Roger did a really good job with this team especially when 10-6 is considered a down year.
  • Preview to Madden 19: Robert will now take this 9ers team over with hopes of at least replicating the previous success Roger has had in past cycles with the team. The 9ers have plenty of young talent that he’ll be able to build around in the process of molding this team into what he wants it to be especially in the front 7 on defense. The 9ers aren’t necessarily a great team to start but as it’s been shown before they can be built into something special. Robert hasn’t quite shown what he can do in AMLoB yet but judging by what he’s done elsewhere I think he can whip this team back into shape similar to previous cycles.

Los Angeles Rams

  • Review of Seasons 6-13: Another team gone by the wayside due to user turnover and even when they’ve had users, inactivity. There were so many nice pieces the Rams could’ve made into something great and now they’re “what if...”stories. The biggest “what if...” has to be Manusky who had the tools necessary to be one of the league’s top QB’s but never got the development he needed although he had surrounding talent to help such as Todd Gurley and trading for Jerry Rice Jr. This team ended at 46-82 and it seems like they could’ve been more here but unfortunately there just wasn’t.
  • Preview to Madden 19: One word to describe this Rams team is loaded. This team has stars on it for plenty of up front success with that young offense and vet talented defense. If Chan drafts well and develops talent behind them, there is a high likelihood this team can be successful throughout the cycle. Chan came late in the last cycle but made some noise in his short stint so now that he completely has the reigns he gets a chance to make something special happen with this team.

Division Predictions

  • Most Successful: I think Suf will be consistently good in this division and probably the conference as well leading to my thought of him being the most successful team in the division.
  • User(s) to Watch: Chan is a good user with a talented team so there could be plenty that happens here, and I think he’ll set this team up for long term success with his short term future looking so bright already. Robert is one to watch too but solely because we don’t know how his AMLoB production will be.
  • Team That Will Struggle: I think struggle will be with the Seahawks again this cycle due to a very lackluster roster out the gate and the fact we don’t know just how good Shank will be in the league yet.
  • Breakout Star: Josh Rosen should have a pretty good time out there in AZ with such a pass heavy user like Suf. Add in the fact that he really wants to take on the challenge of developing a QB and I think Rosen wins in that scenario.
  • Most Likely to Win a Super Bowl: I think the Rams roster and Chan’s ability is just too much to pass up on this selection, although Suf makes a pretty good case having taken a team to the Super Bowl in the league before I think the most likely chance goes to Chan.
