Review of Seasons 6-13: Well the Texans were a bit under appreciated in this cycle coming away with only two playoff appearances despite their 5 10+ win seasons in the cycle due to a loaded AFC lineup, finishing with no less than 8 wins every season. 2 different users managed this team but I think the most impressive was Emmons who later went on to take on his hometown Lions. Emmons did great things with this team by leading them to the playoffs twice and even a division title with a team that was cap strapped and low on talent. When Levi took the team over the last 2 seasons he finished 10-6 and 11-5 but still couldn’t find the playoff berth so this team definitely was one of the more successful teams of the cycle despite being one of the lesser situations of the cycle. Levi showed that he could make it happen with lesser squads so it’ll be interesting to see in Madden 19.
Preview to Madden 19: Levi staying on as the Texans could bring in really good results for this team in the next cycle. With a young talented roster it’ll be interesting to see how this team develops, especially with Deshaun Watson. Deshaun was bounced around quite a bit in the last cycle due to injuries and not having the right fit, but I feel in the upcoming cycle he’ll be a staple for the Texans franchise as he tries to take over the division. Playing in such a tough division with at least 3 contenders will be a tall task to handle but I think with a good user running things and a roster that can be developed that has great pieces can be tough to handle in this division and the AFC as a whole.
Tennessee Titans
Review of Seasons 6-13: The Titans struggled oh so mightily in this cycle posting by far the worst win total of 28-99-1. The team was consistently drafting in the top 5 and could never quite put the talented pieces they drafted into a good enough situation to work. The Titans couldn’t keep a consistent user around so that plays a part along with the fact they just couldn’t find ways to win games. What makes matters worse is that this team finished with an average record of 1-5 in the division every accords the cycle. There wasn’t many redeeming things to say here other than inactivity and a revolving door of users resulting in cycle long ineptitude.
Preview to Madden 19: With Matty choosing to continue with the Titans it could be interesting because we don’t exactly know what he’s capable of yet seeing as he was a late addition with a less than stellar roster. This time he’ll have full control from the start and gets to prove exactly what he can do in this league. Mariota at QB, Henry and Davis at HB and WR with Adoree and Harold Landry on defense to develop, there’s no telling just how good this team can be. The Titans have reasons to be optimistic for the upcoming cycle but in such a tough division it’ll be a lot on this team to win week in and week out and we haven’t been shown that yet given such a bad cycle in Madden 18.
Indianapolis Colts
Review of Seasons 6-13:Dicey made this Colts team into one of the league’s best for a stretch this cycle with 3 playoff appearances, a division title and even a Conference Championship along with a Super Bowl appearance. Moves were made such as Andrew Luck being cut and becoming the ultimate insurance policy for the league and starting a lowly rated scrambler for 2 seasons, or basically just cutting the roster to its bare bones and rebuilding it in a fashion that can be seen as a recipe for failure but even with all of that this team still ended up being a problem. Constantly overachieving with what can be seen as a less than roster makes the 54-74 record very misleading especially when the primary user went 40-24 with a 4-3 playoff Record only missing the playoffs once in 4 seasons before going to the Packers for the last couple seasons. The Colts had a good run with their during the middle of the cycle but outside of that though there isn’t much to say about this team.
Preview to Madden 19:Looking to Madden 19, I think the Colts are gonna be just as good as they were in the middle of the last cycle even though it’ll be another guy taking the reigns. Bobby handled the Bills win great care in his time there, leading them to great records and division dominance. I think he can bring that same type of fire to this Colts team in the upcoming cycle. It’ll be a tall task building and molding this team into what he needs to be successful all the while playing in what is sure to be one the league’s more competitive divisions.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Review of Seasons 6-13: During the cycle the Jags were consistently one of the league’s best and posted an impressive record of 91-37 overall with a 6-6 postseason record. The Jags also took in 6 division titles to go along with 4 conference championship appearances which I think it’s safe to say they were easily one of the top teams of the cycle. The user running the show had a lot to do with it too, as Kripps not only developed talent well but arguably drafted even better which those two things in conjunction are the keys to long term success especially in a league as deep as this one on talent. Another great thing is that he did all of these great things in arguably the league’s toughest division and in the league’s toughest conference. The only thing not on the resumé that can be looked at though is the fact that this team didn’t even make an appearance in the Super Bowl despite getting the brink 4 times. I know they wish they had a title shot but the success was still there.
Preview to Madden 19:The Jags dominance should continue in the upcoming cycle with an immensely talented roster and another good user making the team his. Josh has done well in the league before and giving him his hometown Jags with his ability to make things happen could be a crazy combination. So many young guys that are already good that can continue to develop and if he drafts well it could definitely be good game for the league. The only questions lie around what will happen at QB and with such a tough division can they sustain the dominance this team had in the last cycle, only time will tell.
Division Predictions
Most Successful: With the ridiculous amount of talent on the roster with a very good user, the Jags to me look like the team to beat in this division. Development and drafting will play a huge part but with the fact it’s been shown what can happen when doing those things well, I don’t think it’s much to debate on it despite the division being pretty stacked on good users.
User(s) to Watch: We know what Bobby can do and with a division that struggled to retain users he did well but the real question is just how good can Levi be because he had similar circumstances. Levi has shown promise with less than stellar teams and winning at least 10 games all 4 seasons he’s been in the league, but the real test will be can he do it in what could be one of the best division races to watch.
Team That Will Struggle: The Titans I think continue to be in the cellar of the division, I doubt it’ll be quite as bad as it was last cycle but with such a tough division and an unproven user in the league it’s tough to see this team climbing up on the division.
Breakout Star:Myles Jack could end up being one of the best off ball backers in the league with Josh running the show. He’s proven with his ability before that he can be suffocating on defense so with such a athlete like Jack, I could see him making a huge impact.
Most Likely to Win a Super Bowl:It’s hard to pick against the Jags in this situation and for good reason especially with so much talent on the team. I think they have the best shot in the division just off the base roster, that doesn’t include the future things that could increase the chances. The Jags should be a team to watch.
