AMLoB Rookies to Watch for 2023 Update
Offensive Rookies to Watch
1.) 1st Round QB’s
2.) Top 4 Rookie WR’s
3.) HB Benny Snell Jr., San Francisco 49ers
Snell has made this offense into something great as well as help QB Roger Tapia in the process. Being the first back to over 1,000 yards this season and adding 16 total TD’s shows just how sensational he has been. People questioned whether he could be a work horse on the NFL level and he has proven to be just that so far. As he continues to help balance this offense out and make plays down the stretch, be ready for him to be a huge part of the 9ers playoff run.
4.) HB Veneton Copeland, New York Giants
Copeland has been really good for this Giants team as he’s helped them to their NFC East leading 6-6 record thus far. While he hasn’t had quite the production we thought he would, he has definitely proven to be valuable with almost 600 rushing yards and almost 300 more receiving with 7 total TD’s. As the Giants look to get some big wins down the stretch, Copeland be a huge part of that so I believe he’ll finish the season at at least a solid level as the Giants look to hold onto the NFC East.
5.) TE Adrian Printers, Washington Redskins
Printers has been pretty impressive this season despite only finding the end zone twice. His development has been hindered by the coach leaving mid season as this team has struggled to find its footing. Even with all of that he’s still amongst the top at his position yardage wise so we’ll see how this season finishes for Printer and his team.
Defensive Rookies to Watch
1.) MLB Joe Bachie, Detroit Lions
The former #3 pick has come up big time for this defense in Detroit, so much so that he’s overshadowed Jarrad Davis this season. Bachie is currently tied for the league lead in INT’s as well as having returned 2 of them for TD’s. The fact he’s constantly making plays has been great to watch. He is definitely a major part in what has been and hopefully will continue to be a special season for him and this Lions defense.
2.) MLB Keith Hughes, CLE
Keith Hughes has played great this season, being tied with the rookie we mentioned right before him, in INT’s. Now where they differ aside from Bachie being picked 3rd overall and Hughes at 28th in the 7th is that Hughes has forced 2 fumbles and has 2 sacks as well. He’s playing with intensity and a chip on his shoulder hat has him wanting to continue to shake up the league. In my opinion he’s the DROTY in a close race right now but it is a very tight race and can’t flip sides at any moment.
3.) RE Marcus Davenport, San Francisco 49ers
Davenport has been a big part of this 9ers defense, leading his team in sacks as well as being close to the top in the league. With 1 forced fumble as well, Davenport has a great chance to take DROTY in the NFC and make a pro bowl. I’m sure Davenport will continue to make an impact and keep the machine going on this defense as the playoffs are looming, keep your eyes on him which shouldn’t be hard at all since he makes a lot of plays.
4.) CB Spencer Toefield, Kansas City Chiefs
Toefield may not have the numbers when you look at the paper to tell you what he does for this defense but his ability definitely hasn’t gone unnoticed. Stepping in and making an impact in a loaded secondary is tough unless you have the talent to keep up which Toefield has shown he can keep up an then some. 36 tackles, a INT, a forced fumble, 7 deflections and a TD are just the stats you can see. His impact is more than those numbers so look to see him continue in the weeks leading up to the playoffs.
5.) MLB Corey Trotter, GB
Trotter has had a very impressive rookie campaign thus far. 47 tackles, 4 sacks, 6 INT’s and a TD have made a big difference for this team. Him and Tuni have made this defense play at an elite level this season as the Packers are making their playoff push. With him being a sleeper for DROTY don’t be surprised if the former 3rd round pick takes it. He’s already showed he is just as good as anyone defensively from this draft and I look for that to continue late as we push towards the playoffs.
