Season 7 Power Rankings v3

1.) Browns (7-0)

The Browns continue to show how elite they are by continuing to win and not only win but dominate games as well. This team continues to hav a firm hold on the top spot and the rankings and there’s no reason to believe it won’t continue. With some tough matchups on the back end it may be a tall task though especially with what could be a battle of undefeated’s in week 11 when the #2 9ers travel to Cleveland. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how the coach handles the back half of the schedule but with how proven he is in the regular season I expect the winning ways to continue.

2.) 49ers (7-0)

The 9ers continue to roll after two wins against the division rival Cardinals. The 9ers are looking to put an end to the reign the Cards have had on the division and they hold the tiebreaker. Some tough games on the back half including 4 games against top 12 opponents as well as the Giants. The game against the Browns in week 11 will be very telling of who is the top team in the league if both teams continue to roll like this. This could be the year the 9ers break their playoff woes

[Prev. Rank: 2]

3.) Jets (7-0)

The surprise team of this season has to be the Jets. The climb they made from the preseason to now has been phenomenal to see. When the new coach came in he immediately went into win now mode and made a lot of moves in the offseason that apparently have worked out well. With some big wins already under his belt on the season the plan is to stay consistent and make it happen on the back end as well but it’ll be tough with games against fellow undefeated division mate Pats coming up twice as well as the Bills once more and the Chiefs. It’ll be interesting to see if this Jets coach can keep this team at this level.

[Prev. Rank: 3]

4.) Lions (6-1)

The Lions coach has this team on fire right now and playing at an elite level. Outside of a tough loss to the Chiefs this team has looked great and the Lewerke to Fairley combo looks phenomenal. Already with big wins against quality opponents the second half of the schedule will prove to show whether this team is a contender or not with games against tough division opponents as well as a week 16 matchup with the Panthers that could be a potential NFC Championship game preview. Stay tuned into this team because I don’t even know if they’ve peaked yet this season.

[Prev. Rank: 8]

5.) Patriots (7-0)

The Patriots are off to a hot start again this season and haven’t tasted a loss so far this season. How often is it that an undefeated team through 7 games is only in a wild card spot. That speaks to the great things that are happening in this division and with 2 games coming up against the Pats this should be exciting to watch. The acquisition of McNabb from the 9ers has proven to be huge as this team looks to continue its winning ways. Other tough games on the back half include the Raiders, Chiefs and Giants so it’ll be very telling about this team that looks for its first playoff appearance since season 3

[Prev. Rank: 7]

6.) Panthers (6-1)

It’s not often a team that hasn’t lost in the time span since the last rankings slips but the teams ahead have proven that they deserve it. The Panthers are continuing to play great football outside of that tough loss to the Jags. The schedule ahead is where it gets tough for this team with games against the Eagles, Cards, Colts, Texans, Bucs, Lions and Bears.

[Prev. Rank: 4]

7.) Jaguars (6-1)

The Jags have looked great outside of the #1 Browns beating them after a huge win against Carolina. This team has been impressive even with the rookie QB Huston struggling as of late. With a couple of injuries this team has dealt with it could be tough but I think this coach has the situation under control. The back half of the schedule gets tough for this team so I expect to see some great games from this team but we shall see how they handle all of the adversity down the stretch.

[Prev. Rank: 5]

8.) Chiefs (4-2)

This Chiefs team has looked amazing despite the 4-2 record. It’s one of the teams that I can see making a run in the AFC. This receiving core is built to make it happen with a solid running game and much improved O-Line. The defense has always been elite for the Chiefs coach and now the offense is catching up to their level of play. Down the stretch it’ll be interesting to see if the offense keeps this level of play up and make a run at it in the postseason.

[Prev. Rank: 9]

9.) Cardinals (4-2)

The Cards haven’t been as impressive this season as it looks like they have taken a step back by sitting Hangartner for Moffitt. Maybe there are some locker room issues affecting this team but they don’t quite have that same look as previous seasons. With that being said though, they have been impressive with only 2 losses to their division rivals, the 9ers. I wanna see how this team plays down the stretch especially with a NFC Championship game rematch against the Panthers coming up. I think they can make another run at it but we shall see how that goes.

[Prev. Rank: 6]

10.) Bears (4-1-1)

The Bears have continued to build on the success of last season. They are making noise this season with their coach developing this team into what he wants it to be finally. He’s in a tough division so that makes it even more impressive. Steitz and the weapons that were drafted to surround him have made things work well especially with Jordan Howard playing at a great level. Sendlein has proven to be a great addition making this O-Line finally perform to its ability. The 2nd half of the season will tell a lot about this team and maybe they finally make the playoffs and break their drought.
