The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Good that is going on in RZ is there is a fair share of “top” tier teams right now. There are 2 undefeated teams on the NFC side paired with a one 2-loss team. On the AFC side there are four 2-loss teams fighting for the #1 seed. I am not sure there has been this many top teams from both sides at once since I have been here.
The Bad: The cheese is real with the deep ball right now. A lot of WRs are averaging over 20+ yards a catch, and with a few around or above 30 yards per catch. With most of those yards being air yards. With the jump ball being a thing of the past speed is King again.
The Ugly: 3 teams right now are just plain ugly right now. The bottom 3 teams in the league are a combined -508 point differential and -2,656 yard differential. The games they are taking apart in aren’t competitive in the least bit. The coaches may have been thrown into teams that were living in cap hell, but at some point they have to be able to help themselves.
Top 5 Rz Offenses
5. Vikings- Averaging a solid 34 points per game is nothing to sneeze at for this top 5 offense. This team is putting up a ton of yards due to the turnovers the defense is getting them. But when they have the ball they don’t let go of it much as they are converting 60% on third down and an outstanding 85% on 4th down.
4. Titans- One of the best offenses yardage wise in the league as the Titans are gaining a whopping 457 yards per game. Also converting nearly 50% on 3rd down, is helping the Titans average 36 points per game.
3. Bucs- Madden schools does it again as the Bucs are scoring 37 points per game, with 115 total first downs. This team has been dang near unstoppable on offense when Lance takes care of the ball. 2. Panthers- Just one of 2 teams averaging over 40 points a game the Panthers are scoring 43.09 points a game with a league leading 120 first downs. Also 3rd in the league with 440 yards a game.. Maybe the Panthers have figured out football
1. Jaguars- Now with the league leading 43.21 points per game the Jags are a juggernaut since T-Law is taking care of the ball so well with only 2 picks and the OL is doing its job to keep him upright with 8 sacks given up. The Jags are spreading the ball out really well and keeping defenses on their toes.
Top 5 Defenses in RZ
5. Steelers
From a bottom defense to a top 5 yardage defense, Neon has the Steelers allowing 331 yards a game right now. I believe a huge part of this is the rookie that were brought in. Devin Devlin is leading this team in a great way. Most tackles on the team, 2 ints, one for a touchdown and a forced fumble. Once this team can put more pressure on the QB they will be even better.
4. Panthers
The Panthers are playing really good defense right now. To the surprise of no one led by Aaron Donald and the defensive line. They may no be getting a lot of sack but stacking up the TFLs and forcing the ball out early is allowing Byard to lead the league with 6 ints.
3. Bears
The Bears are doing a fantastic job stopping the pass Neon has them giving up 930 passing yards through 5 games. They are playing a complete unit at the moment not a lot of sacks or interceptions but doing enough to stay in the win column and they don’t seem to be giving up the deep ball right now.
2. Bucs
Madden schools has given Doni some great setups as he is one of 2 teams giving up less than 300 yards a game. Only giving up 18 points a game and less than 200 passing yards a game is a recipe for success. A major part of the team's success is the defensive line as the starting 4 currently combine for 19.5 sacks.
1. Vikings
Through 4 games, the Vikings are giving up a measly 282 yards a game. They are #1 is points allowed, #1 in total yards, #1 in passing yards and #2 in rushing yards… Just wow!!! They just have dogs at every level, 5 different guys with Ints,6 different guys with a sack and multiple forced fumbles. This defense is tough right now.

The Shocker:
The most shocking thing to happen this season is the astronomically quick turn around of the Steelers. They have a top 10 scoring offense and a top 10 scoring defense. The offense is really balanced to this point of the season. However, the run defense needs some help as they are giving 122 yards a game.
Surprising:
A surprise to mostly everyone around the league right now has to be the 49ers. They are in the bottom 10 in every offensive category. They are 20th in points allowed and Curran has 5 picks through 4 games, though 3 came in one game. Everyone including myself expects Jake to right this ship soon, as the beginning of his schedule has been a gauntlet.
A couple divisional leaders surprising the league are the Jets with a game up in the division over in the AFC East and the Seahawks tied for the lead in the NFC west. I am not sure anyone predicted these leaders even this early in the season.
Nothing New Here:
Just going to rattle off a list here:
Moji is still finding ways to win even with a depleted team
D0ni undefeated through 5 games(fuck this guy)
Broncos are still struggling and still at the bottom of the division.
Kevin Byard is still going up and grabbing interceptions even with his new team.
You get a pick, you get pick everyone gets a pick.
This is Week 5 of the King’s Power rankings. This is based on Wins/Losses, with home losses weighted heavier against than away losses and away wins weighted heavier than home wins. I also take into account points for and against, yard differential, turnover differential etc. The formula does not take strength of schedule into so I will be adjusting the rankings slightly compared to what my formula spit out.
Ranking Score Write Up
1: The Bengals don’t have Joe Burrow and their offense shows it. Averaging a measly 12 points a game led to the release of Jarred Goff, will this help them? Probably not they send away a franchise QB for a load of picks and hopes of drafting a franchise QB.Will this move pay off only time will tell but they do seem to be ontrack for at least 2 top 10 picks, maybe even 2 top 5 picks.
2: My early surprise disappointment has to be the Eagles. With a good roster out of the box and adding Christian McCaffrey to the offense I was expecting something a little more dynamic, but 28th in points scored and 29th in rushing and a bottom half defense this could be a long season for the Eagles if they don’t figure it out soon.
3: The early 3-0 surprises have to be Andy in San Francisco and Mayne in Buffalo. Andy is winning with a combination of offense and defense. He is not turning over the ball hardly at all right now and with great defense that is a recipe for success. Mayne on the other hand is struggling a little bit holding onto the ball but he isn’t too worried about that as his defense is causing turnovers in droves. His defense is putting him position to win games and that's just what he is doing
4: You get an interception, you get an interception, everyone gets an interception. We currently have19 quarterbacks on pace to throw more than 25 interceptions this season. However, there are 5 quarterbacks that have thrown 2 or less interceptions through 3 games. So it is possible to play close to mistake free football, but decision making has to improve.
5: The AFC is the gauntlet it was advertised to be. WIth 8 teams currently sitting at 2-1 or better. There is no doubt in my mind that 10 wins will not got you into the playoffs in the AFC. With Mayne Event entering the fold as an early contender this Conference is going to be a dog fight moving forward. Who will keep their momentum and who will have it fade away as the first quarter of the season comes to a close this weekend?
With the draft mere hours away we have a lot of teams looking to make that jump to the next level. Whether that be from sitting on the couch to the playoffs, perennial 1 and done or to make a deeper run into the playoffs. Here we are going to take a look at who has that opportunity through tonight's draft.
The first team with the most gain and who can take the next step is the 49ers. Falling just a few plays short of winning the coveted RZ Bowl, they now have 3 picks in the first round and 2 in the top 15. Look for them to fill the few holes they may have and make another run at the Title.
The Vikings were an early exit from the playoffs but now they have the #3 overall pick to go with another first rounder. With this great GM and a great Coach leading the way I fully expect them to turn these guys into bonafide studs out the gate and make a deep playoff run next season.
The next team and maybe the team that should take the biggest leap this season is the Steelers. With 2 top 10 selections and another one in the 20s. Look for them to add immediate help and make a run at the Wild Card in the AFC. They could find the success they had 2 seasons ago paired with these new stars and make the playoffs before its too late.
The team with the most to lose tonight is by far the Green Bay Packers. With no Burrow for the season and Jaire also out and no first round pick. I am looking for this team’s struggles to intensify.
The other team that could be in line to struggle this season is the Texans, With a new GM, new Coach and not a great roster and a late first round pick. I look for this team to take a few steps backward. I hope the new coach can prove us wrong but only time will tell.
This article is done use King John’s stupid formula you will see why it is broken when we get to #1. The Chiefs are being left off this list so Andy doesn’t cry and no they weren’t #1.
Season 75 Impact Deals-
1: The Bengals dual trades for Kenny Clark and Stefon Diggs might be the biggest impact deals of the season. Yes they lost Bates, but if Clark can get to the QB faster than his predecessors then they won’t need Bates. The addition of Diggs to this offense makes this team nearly unrecoverable. This offense is going to be fun to watch.
2: The Falcons signing of Ty McCullough to a massive 4 year 153 million dollar deal. It is not just the deal that is huge, the impact this man should have on the D-Line is undeniable. They had a decent line but nothing any team was scared of, but now this signing vastly improves their chances of getting to the QB and stopping the run.
3:The Raiders adding Devonta Smith is going to possibly put this offense on pace with the Bengals. With Smith, Ruggs, Waller, Harrison, Jacobs and Skilling this may be the best top to bottom group of Skillz position players.
4: We have done positives up this point but a down side of all the great impact and is someone had to get worse. I feel on paper that team was the Bucs. They lose Vita Vea and Davis on that defense is going to hurt right away. But with good coaching, which they have they may be able call around some of their deficiencies.
5: The Steelers getting Mecole Hardman and Jenkins can do nothing but help this pedestrian offense. The defense was lights out last year but the offense needs a spark. Hardman will bring this in the pass game and Jenkins can bring this to the trenches.
