Are you ready for some football?

                                Seattle Times

Are you ready for some football? The kickoff to a 2014 season is right around the corner and the fans of Seattle have high hopes for a great season. Can Pete Carroll rally his team together? Can Russell be consistent throughout the year? Can the Defense live up to the hype? These are a few questions floating around in the city of Seattle. Marshawn Lynch thinks so saying: "Beast mode will be in full effect this season don't count us out in anything defense or offense we got dawgs on the field and they ready to win by any means".

In Preseason we got a chance to look at the newly acquired players from the draft and FA. Lenzelle Drake the rookie QB from Washington St. felt like he had something to prove being projected as a 4 round pick but getting picked up #12 overall in the draft. Lenzelle put up 914 yds in the preseason throwing 7 tds and 7 ints. Owner Jason Jones said " we wanted to test out every aspect of his game and push him out of his comfort zone, we felt he handled it well and we are happy to have him here as a backup in Seattle".

Some other newly acquired players that showed promise were:

WR Jeremy Maclin 16 rec. 325 yds

WR Vincent Brown 8 rec. 133 yds

FS Da'Norris Searcy 8 tackles 1 int

CB David Amerson 8 tackles 2 ints

DT Jason Gist  5 tackles 2 sacks 1 ff

The Seahawks are making the adjustments to make them a better team because in the TFL no win is promised. Next week will be the true test for the new squad starting off the regular season against the Cowboys.

LETS GO HAWKS

Unfortunate events

SEATTLE TIMES

Having a great season at 12-4 you would think the Seahawks would have come to play on Sunday to keep their season alive. After a crushing 7-17 lost to the Panthers in the NFC Wildcard game we saw the flaws in the Seahawks core. Pete Carroll said: "We lost focus and in the game of football that's the toughest way to lose because you know you have just defeated yourself. We have to pick up the pieces and find ways to keep our guys mentally in the game." The Seahawks turned the ball over 5 times, dropped key passes and missed 2 key FGs that could have kept them in the game. Owner Jason Jones speaks on the situation saying "Sometimes things just doesn't go your way on the field, I know Pete will have these guys more focused and prepared next season. We will be looking into new defensive schemes and rotations to improve results on run D and work on our guys confidence on the offensive side of the ball as well."As we head into the offseason Seahawks fans have high hopes for the future of their team we are looking forward to next season. Creating a Balanced Team

We sat down with Owner Jason Jones we asked him what was his main goals for his team this season? Jones replied "Its simple...... Balance make them respect all aspects of your game on offense and defense." The Seahawks have been doing just that by spreading the ball on Offense with 6 players with over 10+ catches on the season and 10 players with a receiving TD. Coach Pete Carroll says " We want to confuse the defense as much as possible, the best way is to not have a Go-to reciever. If you are on the field we expect you to make plays period, we have taken some hard losses this season from the Jags, Texans, Vikings and 49ers and we haven't strayed away from our system if we lose its on the team not one individual". Going into the final games of the regular season the Seahawks will continue building their chemistry and make their push for the Super Bowl.

Is Russell Wilson back on track?

Right now the Seahawks are ranked 20th in passing yds this season,  Russell Wilson struggled with throwing the ball down the field this season to say the least. Coach Carroll said "you can tell he was uncomfortble out there but a guy like Russell bounces back quickly and when he does its nothing short of amazing". Through week 7 Russell has thrown for 20 Tds 12 Ints with a 86.0 passer rating. Russell says "He is working on protecting the ball and building a stronger trust in his receivers".

Can the expectations be met?

Starting this season their are high expectations floating in the rainy skies of Seattle Washington. Questions like: Can their team improve? Are they too young? Will they have financial issues? These are common questions as the season comes near, things got even more interesting when Paul Allen sold the team to a young life long fan of the Washington Redskins Jason Jones. He immediately made his presence known by talking to the head coach Pete Carroll along with the coaching staff about pride and self value. During this meeting Jones quotes Aristotle saying: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.” The Seahawks have already made steps in the right directions starting with only 4 Mil in cap space, players we're released and new ones acquired such as Stephon Gilmore (CB), Zach Stacy (HB), Jerrell Freeman (MLB), Bobby Rainey(HB) and FA Kenny Phillips (FS) with those editions they now sit at 17.9 Mil in cap space. It will be interesting to see how the season turns out for the Seahawks. Will they strive for greatness and rise to the expectations?
