Redemtion's Corner: Best Defensive Abilities

My-Post-3

Previously we covered what I felt were the 3 best abilities on offense for QB’s, RB’s and WR’s/TE’s. Today I will be covering the defensive side of the ball. As we all know zones on Madden are a complete mess, however this article will be written as if zones and coverage in general is functioning as expected in Madden 22 (GOD LET THIS BE THE CASE). So with that being said, let’s get this started.

My-Post-11

Whether it is Madden or the actual NFL, the front 4 of a defense is arguably the most important part of any defense. In the run game the front 4 or 3 (3-4) are needed to take up blocks to allow Linebackers the ability to fly to the ball. On defense, a front that can generate pressure without the need to blitz is invaluable. So what abilities should you be looking to add?

  1. Inside Stuff/Run Stopper – Stopping the run will be key this year. Madden 22 is lining up to be a very offensive Madden, and with zones being potentially iffy, being able to stop the run with as few resources as possible will be key. Although Inside Stuff can be easily countered, if you are able to get two of them on your line, it’ll make stop one of the most common run concepts all that much easier.
  2. Edge Threat/Edge Threat Elite – Yes EA unlocked pass rush moves for non-ability players, thus making the pass rush more effective, but I don’t care. If anything that is the reason these beautiful pass rush abilities come in at number 2. ETE gives you the added effect of adding pressure to a QB, but both abilities are good for good quick heat on the QB from the edge. The last thing you want is a QB with 7 seconds in the pocket on 3rd and long.
  3. Under Pressure – Pressure bursts pipes, and that is exactly what this ability does. By expanding the area of disruption and pressure on a QB, you don’t actually need to get to the QB to impact them. Under Pressure is one of the easiest abilities to get on a lineman, and its impact can never be overstated.

Can anyone cover anybody???? Like seriously, how are we supposed to play defense if your defenders in the secondary are mindless? Well hopefully these three abilities will help alleviate some of those concerns.

  1. Zone Knockout Abilities – I don’t care which one it is (if it is like M21 anyone literally will work) just get them on your field. These Zone KO abilities give your defenders a buff in reaction time once the ball is in the air, and depending on the ability the extra added benefit of knocking potential catches out a receivers hands. GET THEM ON YOUR FIELD. Note: These abilities work on Linebackers as well, and are important for them to if you want solid underneath coverage.
  2. Acrobat – You want to see your DB’s look like Superman? Then get Acrobat on your field. With Acrobat you “Gain Diving swats & interceptions” animations. A WR could look wide open, but if a defender with Acrobat is near, no pass is safe. Note: Acrobat pairs very well with man and zone coverage abilities as well.
  3. One Step Ahead aka OSA – You have seen it, you have likely played against it. Man defense has been NERFED in Madden 22, so if you are looking at running any man in a consistent manner, you will need this ability. OSA gives your defenders quicker reactions to WR’s when in man coverage. Essentially it allows your DB’s to run the WR routes for them.

In Madden Linebackers are often a liability. They usually don’t have the speed to help in coverage, and pursuit is crap so they don’t help in the run game either. But these abilities may take your linebacker core from a group of bums, to the heroes of your defense. Note: Take what I said about zone abilities for DB’s and apply that here as well.

  1. Tackle Supreme/Secure Tackler – Don’t let them get past your linebackers. Tackling as important as ever, and giving your linebackers the ability to secure ball handlers is all you can ask. Tackle Supreme expands a player’s tackle radius making them most effective tackling machine on the field.
  2. Lurker – I don’t need to explain it, you know what it is, and how important it is. It’s a must have if you are usering Linebackers in Madden.
  3. Out of My Way! – This is another one of my sleeper abilities. If you are an elite user, and are comfortable with shooting gaps in the run game, you want this ability.  There isn’t a Fullback or a TE that can keep you from your prey with this ability equipped.

So there you have it, I think these abilities are some of the most effective abilities in the game for defense. What do you guys think?

Side Note: We do not respect dline user abilities in these parts.

MSR Player Tribune

My-Post-9

"MSR can be as big as...." That was my belief at the time and that is my belief today. Madden Sim Revolution aka MSR was my very first home in the Madden Sim Community. Call me naïve, tell me that I don't know what I am talking about (which my boys did), tell me what you want. That was my belief and it was a belief that never faded.

I have heard a few folks wonder who the hell I am, and some just flat out say they have never heard of me. And to be fair why in the hell should you. I am nobody special, I am not LeBron James, I am just me. Redemption or Demetrius as the government likes to refer to me as. But since so many of you don’t know who I am let me give a brief introduction. I am Coach Redemption, yes I do like honey buns, yes I like to talk way too much, which can lead to conflict in certain situations, and yes I really don’t give a damn about opinions I find to be stupid.

But do you know who else I am? I am a man who spent three years of his life helping to build the foundation that attracted so many of you to this place we call MSR. Three years of thinking I was dedicating myself to something that in reality probably should not have mattered as much as it did. But here is the thing, it did matter, MSR mattered to me maybe more than it should have. And it wasn’t just the content, but it was the brother hood. I spent hours like so many of you in DM’s counseling and doing my best to help those that were a part of this community.  I made sacrifices in the name of advancing a community that I really had no ownership over. All because I believed this place could be the greatest Madden Sim Community ever.

So when I hear guys say “This is a privilege” “Being here should be an honor” “If you want the spot you have to come get it” all I can do is smile and agree. Why? Because those are the exact words that I uttered every day for three years. Until I wasn’t, because I left, the place I called home. And not a day goes by where there isn’t a small tiny piece of regret.  So you 31 honored individuals who say that “y’all do not know what it means to be a part of this”. I just want to tell you that you are wrong, because I do, because I have lived it, because I fought for it.

And that is why I came back, because no matter if you leave it, no matter how you left it, some places are still just home. And there isn’t a damn soul in this community that can take that from me (meet me at Temecula if you want to try). I came back because missed home, I came back because there is no better place than home.

Home has changed though some, home seems to be full of more vocal about that action type of individuals. Home seems to be everything I thought it could become one day, and that is because of you guys. You all have made home what it currently is, and that is a home I want to be a part of again. So yes I came back, but I didn’t come back just to be home. I came back for myself, and nobody else, because I know this is where I belong, and have always belonged.

I say that to say this. I am coming, I am coming and I am coming with some redemption. I am coming to show you why I will always call this place home, why this is a place I should never have left. I am putting foots to necks on the field, and energy and concentration to content off the field. But you best believe I am coming, so be ready, be prepared as I am out to prove to myself that when my mind is set to it, and my heart is in it, nobody and I mean NODBODY represents the brand like I do.

We all have a home, a place we all started. But let me assure you of one thing, when I pull out my Sim Community birth certificate, it says place of birth Madden Sim Revolution. What does yours say?

I am coming!!!!!!!!

Redemption Corner: Best Offensive Abilities

My-Post-3

Every year Madden comes out a wave of anticipation comes over the Madden Community. However the last few releases have been games full of disappointment and empty promises. This year Madden brings its talents to the Next Gen console (pandemic nullifies last year’s) and with it a huge overall to Madden and its player movement system. Combined with some changes (user catching, user movement) and new additions (scouting system) the SIM community is abuzz with the potential for an all-time great Madden (fix the zones).

With that being said I decided to provide what I think will be the most important abilities on Offense and Defense in Madden 22. This article will cover the offensive abilities (we don’t care about Oline abilities) and which ones I believe will be important based on how Madden 22 Next Gen currently plays.

My-Post-4

  1. Gunslinger/Set Feet Lead – Quite frankly they are the best passing abilities in Madden. They allow you to make throws that frankly should not be even possible. This ability is the ultimate Madden cheat code, combine this with the changes to the user range, and you can dot up the best of the MSR users.
  2. Hot Route Master – In the right hands this ability gives a person some Infinity Gauntlet type power. Having access to the best routes in Madden, and the ability to adjust to any coverage. Simply put your football knowledge is your biggest limitation.
  3. Fearless – HOLY FUCKING PASS RUSH!!!!!! Madden 22 I think we all can agree has renewed the base pass rush. Yes coverages suck, but man can you base pass rush get to the QB. Being able to throw the ball under pressure will be important. And this is the ability to help you do that.

My-Post-5

  1. Juke Box – Tackling is in an extremely interesting state right now. Tackling in the open field is a complete nightmare. So imagine what an improved Juke Box will do for you. This ability is even tighter in its use, it gives the ball carrier great control while completely breaking the ankles of CPU and User defenders a like.
  2. Arm Bar – Raise your hands if you have stiff armed someone in this game. If you haven’t go grab your controller boot up right now and tell me how good it feels to just “Run through a Muthaf*****’s face”.
  3. Backfield Mistmatch/Master - If you are a passer one of these abilities is almost a requirement on your RB. Part of having HRM is having access to the RB routes. If you do not have HRM Backfield Master (extra routes) is a must have ability. That aside both of these abilities give your RB better pass catching and route running out the backfield against LB.

My-Post-6

  1. Route Technician – (In Theory) No matter the route you’re opposing DB is getting torched. This ability provides better route running and catching when your WR runs their routes. This will require time to learn though as not all routes in Madden are made equal, so this abilities effectiveness can vary from route to route.
  2. Apprentice – If you don’t have HRM one of the apprentice abilities is a must have. My favorite is the Slot Apprentice, as Slot WR are usually the hardest WR to defend in Madden.
  3. Grab – N – Go – THIS IS A SLEEPER ABILITY!!!!!! Madden 22 is shaping up to be a drag route city festival. Generally speaking, defending the flat has been a tough task in Madden, but this year pass catcher’s ability to catch and turn up field is ever more improved. So imagine ability that allows you to make sharper turns up field along with an acceleration ability. You can thank me later on this one.
