Week 10 is here, which means we've officially, officially hit midseason -- every team in the league has played at least eight games.
Yet, even at the halfway point, how much do we really know? For example, can you say there is a dominant team? Possiblely, more noticable is there are a handful of teams who have a real shot at the MXL title in season 5.
Not many folks thought the Falcons would be undefeated with this schedule. Not after a narrow win in the Super Bowl, and not with all the young talent this organization has assembled. In fact, some football fans seem to be in complete denial, as I took a little guff after suggesting Atlanta was the definition of a dynasty. With the next five games in a row being at home, all to sub .500 teams, there is a strong possibility this non-Super Bowl hangover will read 14-0.
The fourth quarter of Sunday's close call to the Lions told you all you needed to know about these Eagles. Lead by D. Barnett this Phili defense gave up zero points in the final quarter, a mark they seem to be leaving on many opponents this season. The dot on the previous Eagles possession was provided by HB D Johnson. Can't imagine anyone would argue with this ranking.
With the road win in LA, the Raiders are making a strong case as the eilite in the AFC. Sunday, they conquered Hollywood with a blend of timely defense and third-down conversions. Two vets figured prominently in the win: K. Mack and Ronald Jones. The latter brought his vaunted jump-cut straight out of a 2019 Thursday nighter against the Eagles, using it effectively on his long touchdown run. That's not just fantasy production -- that's real impact.
The Steelers had a 3 point lead with 34 seconds left in the game, and kicking an extra point to go up four vs the undefeated Falcons on Sunday. Not only did the extra point go wide right so did the rest of the game ass Pitt lost in Ot 16-19. The offensive coaching staff needs to figure out whyJuJu Smith-Schuster has been off the field as much as he has; that guy, who is putting up 19.3 yards per catch needs to be out there getting even more targets. When are the wheels gonna fall off Le'Veon Bell? In his 10th season he has just eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark for the 3rd staright year in a row. In this era, that's like doing Chuck Norris' Total Gym 85 nights in a row.
If this is who the Green Bay Packers really are -- a complete and balanced team that beat down the Redskins by double digits in Sunday’s 36-12 week 10 victory -- then perhaps the rest of the NFC should fear them as well. Aaron Rodgers looked like the quarterback we talked about as an MVP candidate when the Packers were 6-1 heading into their match-up with the Falcons. Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers has a defense that’s good enough (not great, but good enough) to complement the offense when it at least resembles its once-potent self.
RANK
Love that the Vikings are flying well under the radar. Let them sneak up on everybody, but who's going to topple this group in the battle for a wild card birth? While we're at it, which team in the NFC can Minnesota NOT take down? "I'd like the number zero for $500, Alex." The defense has been balling out since, well, Day 1. Remember what they did to the Patriots week 5? (Pats were held to 3 points on 5 sacks and 7 turnovers, both season highs.) The Vikes recently got beat down by the Bears, the next few weeks will be beyond important for this new owner.
Coming off a big win vs cleveland the Ravens have proven they mean business. Baltimore has won their last four games including wins vs: Pitt, Indi, Tenn and Cleveland. The defense continues to keep the Ravens afloat. On Sunday, that group completely shut down the Browns weekly ground assault. They allowed the Browns a grand total of 40 rushing yards. Lamar Jackson did his part with 5 Tds, yet the scare is he threw 3 ints. The Ravens have a dynamic QB, grind-'em-up attack and jackhammer defense, look out AFC
Rams Look Lost in the Battle for LA
Chargers 34 Rams 10
"Nobody wins them all. We regroup, get a W next week vs Denver. Then rest up with the bye for the second half of the season," Goff said calmly after the game.
"Haven't been shut down like that in a while. Keeps me humble and motivated. I hate to be next weeks opponent," chuckled Todd Gurley after being held to just 29 yards, his worst performance of the season.
"That is a stupid damn question, we got our ass kicked. Out hustled, out played, out coached. Now get the hell out of my office" Coach Saltzman stormed after being asked if the TMZ report of marujuana use affected his coaching job and if he is afraid for his job.

Week 5 MXL Preview
NFC EAST SHOWDOWN
BAM (1-3-0) @ BLAIR (4-0-0)
Both teams made the postseason in season 4, but is it panic time in Dallas? After just four games played, Bam(Cowboys)has more losses in season 5 than they had all of season 4. While Blair and the Eagles are trending the opposite direction. A win for Phili would create a good amount of seperation between them and the rest of the division. Did you know Terrell Owens is the only player ever to make a Pro Bowl for both the Eagles and Cowboys?
KING IN THE NORTH
NEL (2-1-0) @ EDMONDS50 (3-0-0)
Edmonds has come into the MXL lighting it up with his defensive play. Are the Lions really this good. NEL and the Packers will be the ultimate test. Green Bay has defeated the Lions 103 times, the most wins over any team in Packers’ history. Overall, Favre went 25-9 against Detroit as a Packer, including a perfect 17-0 at home. Aaron Rodgers is currently 16-5 versus the Lions. Rodgers vs this daunting Lions Pass Defense should be very interesting.
WAR OF WORDS
TONY (3-1-0) @ HTOWN (2-2-0)
This game comes at a very interesting time, hot off Tony's suspension. This matchup has become one of the most anticipaited in MXL every season due to the owners hot headed nature. The Texans are coming off a statement win in week 4 beating Bam(Cowboys) 22-15. While the Chargers are feeling all to hot about themsleves after beating Rylo (Titans) 57-3. Rylo quit MXL shortly after the beat down. "Come and get it," Said Chargers owner Tony. Joey Bosa will be serving his first of a six game suspenion on Sunday in Houston.
WHO OWNS THE WEST
FLAWLESS (2-2-0) @ CURLEYFRI (2-2-0)
The Los Angeles Rams will look to get back on the track on the road when they take on the Arizona Cardinals Sunday afternoon. This will be the first matchup between the two owners. Both teams are coming off losses in week four. However the losses looked much different. The Rams lost giving up a TD to the 49ers on the last drive of the game, 7-13. While the Cardinals lost 10-37, granted to the Super Bowl champ, Fallen.
SUPER BOWL THAT COULD'VE BEEN
BRYCE(3-0) @ CHICAGOTOGUH(1-2-0)
After strong season 4 performances both teams stalled out in the postseason. Now the Chicago Bears are coming off an early bye week looking to essentially start their season 5 over. On the other side of the football, the undefeated Jets would love to stick with their strong air attack, in this week 5 battle of power houses. We asked Roquan Smith about the heaviness of the game,"No, not really. I’m a light eater. As soon as it’s light, I start to eat”

The MXL Minute episode 10, The Lions:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FudnxX9SPI
In season 5, the NFC North has quietley became the strongest divison in the MXL. With the recent additions of Edmonds50 and Corey28 the divison has never been tougher. This is the only division where all four teams are realistic threats for double-digit wins, even the basement-dwelling Vikings. All are capable of making the playoffs, with Green Bay having the best shot of the group at reaching the Super Bowl..
"It’s good to see the division getting the respect it deserves," Aaron Rodgers said after practice Tuesday monring.

We are not a bandwagon fandom. Our stadium is not hosting Super Bowls, our players aren’t featured in national commercials, our last Lombardi trophy came with the first Gulf War. A Washington fan is a devoted masochist in a traded player’s jersey. But hey, it’s better than being an Eagles fan.
Every year, every game, every draft, every score:

To be a fan of the Washington Redskins Football Club is to live backward while stumbling forward. I cheer for an outdated, offensive logo that I have grown uncomfortable to claim. A former owner who was clueless. And players who can't stay healthy. I start to use the phrase “wait till next year” in mid-September. Oh but how I love my Redskins. We think @Topogus is the guy to take us into the next era.

My grandfather loved the Giants. And until his very last day, the Giants were always something we had together and always something he wanted to talk about. Some of my best memories growing up included being in the Giants Stadium parking lot and having my grandpa throw us passes. He was the most passionate fan I have ever been around. Sometimes you couldn’t tell if he loved or hated the team. The Giants were his main source of frustration but also his biggest source of happiness, and always something he wanted to talk about with his grandkids. I love the New York Giants because my grandfather loved the New York Giants. We are proud to call @Cloud our new owner. Now win us some games please.

It wasn’t easy growing up a Giants fan. Here's to looking at you Kerry Collins. While the losses hurt, the real torture was being on the wrong side of every highlight reel. You would’ve been hard-pressed to find any optimism amongs fans in the past, but this era isn’t our dad’s Giants. These Giants taught me patience, exemplified discipline and proved that the David Tyrees of the world can hope to become entrenched in history. The Giants helped raise me. Thanks for keepint the high standards and being an active owner @Cloud9.

Where would love, or a Vikings fan, be without optimism? There have been no championships here. The absence of titles extends well beyond the confines of the recently emploded Metrodome and its horned tenants. But we are optimistic! We will blow the Gjallarhorn and fill our beautiful new stadium with a culture of winner! We will love it. Skol Vikings. @Corey28

Anyone claiming to be a Vikings fan is clearly a glutton for punishment, and yet I am still here calling my self a Vikings fan. Maybe it's the tease that I love so much. The magic of the regular season and the tragic results in the playoffs. Yet here I am, still cheering for the Vikings, still engaged in a team that I have championship hopes for. I drink the purple Kool-Aid yet I'm still able to see my team for what it is. Please end the sarrow and bring me and the cold city Minnisota a title @Corey28

"I watched every game that season, I didn't do it because I love the Lions. I hate them. They manage to ruin nearly every major holiday in the cold months every year. I do it because the Lions are a part of me. A part of where I live. I watch them for the same reason a person passing you on the street in Detroit with a “Need Help” sign would tell you they were on the up and up. "Ahh, that refreshing Midwestern hope!" You say. That isn't it. It's because people from Detroit are insane. We are falling crazy in love with @Edmonds #We Beleive

So there I was, 14 years old and peeing next to my favorite Lion. What do I do? What do I say? So I turned my head toward him—making sure to look up at his face, again my bathroom etiquette was world class—and I proudly told him how many interceptions I got using him in Madden. He let out a hearty chuckle and gave me a friendly pat on my head. He never washed his hands. But here I am, 16 years later and still a fan. That’s devotion. @Edmonds, we are impressed with what we have seen so far, Playoffs or bust!
