A new era has begun in Kansas City. Andy Reid's reign has come to an end, and HC Reed Rozir takes the reins. Reid's subpar playoff performance was a huge issue with the front office in Missouri after an early exit in the playoffs last season. Coach Rozier brings a new dynamic to this offense, utilizing the big play abilities of WR Tyreek Hill, WR Sammy Watkins, 1st year standout HB Kareem Hunt and veteran TE Travis Kelce. The departure of Alex smith will surely result in a change from the game managing offense a year ago. 2nd Year QB Pat Mahomes has been given the crown to carry this franchise forward, still unproven many doubt that he has the ability to become a superior QB in the NFL.
There are causes for concern to begin the new Mahomes/Rozier era, beginning with the left side of the O-Line. These questions begin and end with LG Luke Joekel. A lot of questions surrounding his intangibles and durability, but what he lacks in those areas he makes up for in size. There is reason to believe Joekel will sustain a steady spot in the rotation with 4th year RG Lauren-Duvernay-Tardif there to mentor him.
The Chiefs will head to Los Angeles to face off with the Phillip Rivers and the newly enforced O-Line Chargers in Week 1.
