Every year there is that 1 cinderella team. The team nobody expects to make a run, eberubody writes them off. Then out of nowhere here they are! This year you could argue that this team.is the Arizona Cardinals. They aren't the reason for this article however. I'm writing this to put the spotlight on 1 player in particular. A man who is trying to make himself a cinderella story.
Lets look at the career of 4th yr rb kirby fletcher. He was selected in the 2nd rd of the 2023 SML Draft. His expected role was to split carries with Marlon Mack and be the eventual successor at running back. His rookie year he showed promise averaging 4.9 ypc in a back up roll. As the official 3rd down back he went over 500 all purpose yards for the 1st time in his career. After that however the cardinals couldn't pass up the opportunity to draft superstar prospect Kalil Peoples in the 1st rd. The 2 split reps the 1st year of peoples' career and fletcher averaged 7 ypc. Unfortunately fate would have it that peoples would take the world by storm this season leaving fletcher with only 9 regular season carries and without a new contract offer.
Well here we are. The divisional round of the playoffs and Peoples is out with and injury. It'll be up to Kirby Fletcher to lead the way on the ground and try to keep the Cardinals' wild dream alive. If Fletcher plays well then the Cardinals have a shot at beating the Eagles and getting a huge payday very soon . If he fails then who knows what his future brings.
