Chargers / jags

?!?!

There are 145 LOLBs in our league.  This guy is 84th in speed, 54th in tackling, and dead last in BOTH coverage categories.  He's only actually good at one thing, but he's only a situational pass rusher at best.

Jags/ redskins trade

Dear Trade Committee,

While I realize I'm new and I have no intention of getting this decision reversed, I'd like to file a formal protest hoping more factors will be considered when determining the viability of a trade should this situation crop up again.

First, I well know the arguments against the trade.  Ramsey is 24, a 99 OVR CB with exceptional skills in every area.  He is young and elite, not to mention has fantastic size in a game in which it's tough to find big corners.  This is why he's a better resource as trade capital to me, and I recognized this immediately after taking over the team.

If he were a QB, it'd be a different story; I don't value CBs highly.  Going back to NFL Head Coach, I determined that the ideal cap distribution included 14% at the secondary positions. That's $22.5 million after reducing the cap by my current dead money. At this moment, I have $24.87m invested in the secondary for next year, and Ramsey isn't even signed yet.  He is asking $12m+ per year.  Again, this is next year's salaries NOT including Ramsey, and I'm already $2.37m over my positional allotment.

Jalen Ramsey will not be a Jaguar next season.  You are forcing me to either lose him for nothing, or franchise tag him at the risk of not receiving an acceptable offer.  I decline that risk as I do not want that money tied up next season too.  I'd much rather have the space to move in free agency and fill holes.  Ramsey is one player, and no matter how good he is, he's only as effective as the other team is willing to challenge him.

Three "B+" players, or hell, even "B" players, is better than one "A+" player on any team.

It's been suggested I wait for the trade deadline, better offers will come.  I've received offers so far from 25% of the league in two days and nothing has come close.  In fact, when I use the search feature on DaddyLeagues, I find only 4-7 players at each position that meet my criteria at all, and only one team, the Redskins, has the players to fill all of them.  In other words, there is no better offer.  It does not exist.  I wish I could get a 95 OVR WR with 96 SPD and 97 ACC along with those other guys, but that trade does not exist.

I am very aware of my defensive style.  I know what my defense needs and what it does not need.  At CB, I need ZCV, PRS, and a FS who can go sideline to sideline.  MCV and Ramsey's numerous other fantastic traits go wasted in my defense and I am forced to pay a premium for attributes I won't use.

Given my cap situation, my unique and well defined roles by position, and the holes I have across my front seven after taking over for an owner who left me a roster with 1 DT and 1 LE on it, I feel this trade was well within reason for my purposes.  I am disappointed the committee would not consider my circumstances but rather evaluated direct, simplistic player-for-player comparison and determined they must protect me, a 40-year-old father of 2 with 4 years college coaching experience and 3 years as a designer on Madden, from myself.  I hope, in the future, you'll contact the owners involved in trades like this and attempt to see them from the points of view of the teams involved.

Thank you,
A.J. Dembroski
