A New Year, A New Team!
With a new year among us there seems to always be a real eye opener in a lot of peoples lives that result in countless instagram pictures with hashtags #newyearnewme, plenty of new gym members signing up, all planning on eating just chicken and brocolli for the entire year, while they just walk around the gym looking at the machines and trying to figure out what the heck they get theirselves into.
Well the fans of the Miami Dolphins didnt just get themselves a fresh start to a new year, they got themselves new football season and new managment for their beloved football franchise.
New Managment goes by one name, B0SS1CA. They have come in and promised some major changes in the locker room and team culture of the franchise; which started with the likes of Ryan Tannehill who was the first victim in a series of regular starters being cut from this 5-11 team last year.
Following Tannehill out the door by way of being released by the team were veterans Kiko Alonso, Nelson Alghor, Kenny Stills and Rashad Jones.
One big loss that B0SSICA didnt intend on losing was Left Tack Laremy Tunsil. B0SSICA has gone on record stating it was an unfortunate loss due to previous managments inability to manage the teams cap situation both short and long term.
With all of those pieces gone out the window, B0SSICA turned their attention to Free Agency where they had little cap room to work even with the flury of cuts. They signed the likes of veteran QB Sam Bradford who had thought he was a sure starter for this rebuilding squad. Two other free agency additions may be the biggest tho, and a clear indication this team wants to rebuild on the fly with young but established pieces. Young safety Quentin Maynard signed a long term deal and is considered the opening day starter at the strong safety position, as well as 23 year old cornerback Irvin Carson who believes he can be an opening day starter as well. Linebackers Julius Arnold and Sebastian Hutchins are not to be ignored either as they will be competing for starting roles.
Where B0SSICA really excelled on paper this offseason was the draft. They managed to grab Frank Simmons, a Free Safety who can come in and be an immediate defensive anchor. They also somehow were able to draft Quarterback Seth Summers who they pegged as a first round talent. Corner Javonte Howry and Wide Receiver Jaron Wilcox have both made some noise in their opening Pre Season games and could have a realistic shot at earning some major playing time. There will be a full draft analysis to come.
All in all, it seemed like a lot of veteran talent went out and numerous question marks coming back in, but B0SSICA feels like this team is in a far better financial state, as well as building a team that can compete now and many more seasons to come.
