Eagles lost another game this season which takes their record to 2-6. The game started off like a good competitive game. Both teams were making stops or forcing turn overs through out the game. It came down to the Jaguars in the 4th quarter when they took the lead and the Eagles just couldn't turn it around and get the points needed to win.
Avonte Maddox had a breakout game and was bumped up to superstar. He has been a monster on the field with his 98 change of direction.. He has been upsetting opponents all season. His speed and ability to cover the field makes him a solid defender. I know he always seems to be with in a yd or 2 of the ball. A lot of good instincts and football iq. He has potential to be a future hall of fame candidate.
The Eagles are still lacking in the quarter back position. They picked up Goff in free agency but he hasn't improved the deep game for the Eagles. They just can't get the ball down field as quick as they would like. Hopefully Jalen develops into a strong arm and steps up down the road.
for now the Eagles can only get better or at least I don't think they can get much worse than they are. If things don't pick up after next seasons draft. I don't think the Eagles will ever be a contender. I'll continue to update everyone as the season plays out. But as of now we are looking at another horrible record.
The 2022 Eagles Draft
I'm going to recap the first 3 rounds of the draft and discuss the future of the rookies
The draft could have went better than it did but the Eagles walked away with some talented players. They had 2 back to back early first and second round picks. They drafted a star defensive end with pick 13 and then a normal dev quarterback with pick 14 of the first round. They drafted a Star left tackle with pick 13 and a normal dev cornerback with pick 14 of the second round. Finally in the third round they drafted a star linebacker with pick 14. The late rounds they added depth to a few positions no one too crazy. The normal guys that are a hit or miss.
The Defensive end and linebacker they signed in the first and third rounds have a bright future ahead of them. They are young and will develop at a decent rate. As long as they get plenty of snaps and perform well they will start each week. The tackle that was signed will be thrown into games here and there to see how he does but if he does his job good he will take over the starting role. The 2 cornerbacks that were signed have some speed and decent stats but have a season or 2 to fully develop before they are worth starting. They will be solid back ups and future prospects. I look forward to seeing how the players develop and will keep everyone updated with any changes in the future.
The Eagles also signed QB Goff to a 1 year deal from free agency. This might help them get the ball down field a little more. Plenty of speedy on the offense but they haven't been able to fully take advantage of it during the prior seasons.
Finally the last thing I wanted to update everyone on was the release of Wentz. But I'm pretty sure everyone already knew that was coming. It was something that everyone knew was coming but didn't think it would ever happen. The fans are praising the Eagles front office for finally cutting their losses and moving on from him. Now it's time to see if the team starts coming together with out all of the negative vibes Wentz brought to the team.
I'll check back in after the preseason and week 1 of the 2022 season.
Week 6 didn't go so well for Philly.. Carson Wentz threw over 400 yds and had 4td's w/ only 1 interception. But it wasn't enough to stop Antonio Gibson from running inside all game. The eagles knew he was running inside all game and they still couldn't stop him from gaining multiple yards over and over. Defenders would run right by him as if he was invisible and miss the tackle. It was frustrating for the Eagles defense and the offense couldn't understand why the defense couldn't stop him. After a long game it was back and fourth for the first 3 quarters then in the 4th Washington pulled away. They kicked a fg then Score 2 big td's. The final 14 points were scored with less than 1:30 on the clock. Definitely wasn't a good day for the Eagles.
With this loss it now makes the eagles 2-4 for the season. And 1-1 for divisonal games. But there's still plenty of season left to change things for the better. Hopefully getting Jalen Hurts back next week will spark some life into the defense and help make the offense even better. There has to be something they can do to get everyone on the same page. It's not going to be enough to get the job done unless it happens directly and they start winning more games. If they fall too far behind then it will just ruin any chances of making it to the playoffs.
as always keep an eye out for next weeks after game report. Until next time ?????
Week 5 was a win for the Eagles, the chargers coaching staff couldn't make it to the game and were stuck letting them call out their own plays. But they sure gave the eagles a run for their money. The game ended 30 to 31 and it was a hard fought game. A lot of people thought the eagles would take the lead and just pull away because the chargers didn't have any game plan for the day but that wasn't the case. I feel like if the chargers would have had the coaching staff for the game then the chargers would have been going home with a win. But unfortunately the coach's were all on covid protocol and couldn't make the game.
The eagles played a good game but Wentz was starting to look like the typical Wentz when you start to think he's improving and screws up and throws a bunch of interceptions. He threw 3 in the game and could have well cost them the game if it wasn't for the Eagles defense coming together in the end of the 4th and stopping the chargers on a 4th and short just outside of fg range. I imagine this is a huge eye opener for the Eagles front office and the future for Carson Wentz. He has had nothing but chance after chance to improve but he continues to be demanding and isn't willing to make changes or listen to advice. I'm guessing when Hurts is ready to come back in week 7 he will be taking the job again. And I'm excited to see how he does after he has been able to rest his arm while letting his knee heal.
The eagles play Washington next week and it's a divisional game. Hopefully it's a good game but I still want the eagles to win. Let's see if Wentz comes together or screws it up again. Keep and eye out for my after game report next week
Until next week.
The Eagles have won their first game of the season, a 14 to 21 final score. It wasn't an easy win but in the 4th quarter of the game Wentz hit Jalen Raegor on a slant and Raegor did the rest to score the winning td.
The game was a back and fourth shit show.. It was 14 to 7 for a while until the Eagles finally tied up the game. Then in the 4th quarter with less than 2 minutes left the Eagles defense had awesome stop. A quick 3 and out and the Giants were punting the ball. And it paid off because on top of the 3 and out it sparked some momentum for the offense. After a few plays and a first down or 2 the eagles were stuck with a 3rd and long. But Wentz and Raegor were determained to Win this game so they went for it and Wentz called out the play putting Raegor on a slant. He snapped the ball took a step back and hit Raegor with the quick pass. Raegor caught the ball and did the rest with his feet and agility. He timed his cut and the defender missed the tackle which left it wide open for a straight drive to the red zone to score and ended up being the final score of the game to make it 14 to 21 Eagles.
With a win on the board they are hoping it boosts everyone's spirits and the momentum to win some more games. They play the chargers next week and it could be another close game. Keep an eye out for another after game report.
The Eagles are off to a bad start once again but this time I'd say it's more of a lacking depth than it is talent. After the Eagles traded away a lot to their talent and let other good players go to free agency. They are left with a lot of holes to fill. They did draft a lot of decent players but it will take a while to mold them into the good players they will hopefully become. As of now the front 7 are all young rookies or 2nd year players and the lack of experience is showing. After Taylor's breakout season last season he is on track to have another great season but 1 player can't do it all alone. Hopefully the fresh faces start picking up on things and make the adjustments needed to become the number 1 defense again. Until then I'm afraid we are going to be giving up a lot of points.
On the offensive side of things the eagles are off to a iffy start as well. Jalen Hurts has been starting and is off to a shaky start and on top of that last week he tore his knee legameant after the falcons safety lit him up as he was running out of bounds. So it looks like we might get to see Carson Wentz try and prove himself this season unless the eagles sign another qb but I have a feeling they are going to give Wentz the shot he's been hoping for.
The biggest issue has been the arm power, Jalen Hurts has been having trouble throwing the ball deep and when he does it usually leads to a interception or a receiver getting lit up because he can't get the ball to them in time. Maybe this down time Hurts can't work on his arm strength and improve his deep game. Because his current throw power isn't going to cut it.
With the Eagles losing the first 2 games of the season the fans are already doubtful they will turn things around. But don't give up on the Iggles just yet because it's early in the season and a lot can change. They just need to make some adjustments and start doing the right things on the play. Some confusion on the field has cost them some big plays recently and hopefully they get a handle on it soon.
We will see how week 3 goes. I'll update everyone again after the Week 3 games are played.
I never thought I'd see this day but the Eagles have finally worked out a deal with Carson Wentz to restructure his contract. And I think this will give them the ability to trade Wentz to a new team with out taking a huge cap hit.
First the Eagles will work out a deal with Wentz and I'm thinking the new deal will change his new contract to a 3 year deal with a substantial cap penalty drop. The previous 80m cap penalty will only be like 10m now and will give the eagles the ability to trade him if anyone wants to shop for a qb. But even if the eagles don't trade Wentz this new deal will give the eagles the ability to sign some good players with out being in cap hell.
Here's to a fresh start and hopefully the eagles don't waste this opportunity to better the team and boost the teams spirit. The Eagles did draft 6 players for the front 7 on defense, a wide receiver, free safety, and cornerback. And now they will have a little over 10m to work with this season. But next season they will have over 70m cap space to negotiate during free agency and any future trades.
I'm excited to see what the eagles do with this fresh start. I really hope they don't botch it and ruin the opportunity to make some changes. As always I'll keep everyone posted with any future moves and news.
Eagles started the offseason off by releasing some players. Leaving them with 36 players before the draft. The cap situation hasn't been great since they resigned Carson Wentz and there isn't much room to negotiate anything until they trade Carson Wentz or renegotiate his contract. They do have 10 draft picks this year and 9 or 10 the following season. It looks like the eagles are in rebuild mode and the only thing holding them back is Carson Wentz.
If I had to guess I'd say the eagles will be drafting a few players for the front 7, a corner back or 2, and a wide receiver. Hopefully the eagles gm lets the new coach build the team around his play style because obviously the current gm doesn't have many brain cells. They already fired the coach and I can see a new gm coming soon if things don't start picking up for the team.
I will follow the team and keep everyone updated on Carson and any other changes coming to Philly. Hopefully we make some moves and start being able to contend because I really hate when our team is down like this.
The Cardinals take another win on the road 21 to 10 final score. By no means was it a clean game for either team but the Cardinals had the better luck.
Dwayne Haskins passed for 281 yards w/ 2 TD's and 6 interceptions and Hopkins had a 100+ yard game w/ 1 TD. The defense snagged 8 interceptions with 1 being a pick 6, forced 2 fumbles, and sacked Bridgewater 3 times.
This was definitely a defensive game because both offenses had trouble moving the ball or just had trouble finishing the drive.
The Cardinals have held it together for the most part with out having their star Quarterback. 3-1 start to the season. They hope to keep racking up the wins and take the division this year. Time will tell but as of now it's looking good for Arizona.
As always keep an eye out for my Week 5 after game report.
Arizona Cardinals were able to win another game with Dwayne Haskins under center. After a horrible showing in the week 2 game and a chance of being fired again. He pulled it together in this week 3 win over the Lions. They ended the game 27 to 34 Arizona.
Overall it was a good close game but both teams were on a mission and it came down to the final minutes of the game. Dwayne Haskins passed for 341 yards a/ 3 TD's and 1 interception. And Kirk and Isabella both a 100+ yard games but Kirk also caught 3 TD's. Drake was only able to rack up 37 yards on the ground but was able to get into the endzone twice for 2 TD's. The Cardinals missed one of their extra points to make it a 27-34 score.
Other than Haskins 1 interception the defenses didn't produce much other than some good 3 and outs and key stops. Both teams did have a sack but no forced fumbles or any touch downs.
The Cardinals play the Panthers next week and this should be the last game Haskins will be starting until Kyler is back from his preseason week 1 injury. I know the Arizona fans are eager for their Quarterback to be back from injury. It's just not the same with out Kyler taking snaps and making plays on his feet.
Keep and eye out for my Week 4 after game report.
The Eagles took another win @ home today 14 to 34 final score.
Jalen passed for 234 yards and 3 Td's with 1 interception.
Miles Sanders had his 3rd 100+ yard rushing game this season and 1 TD.
There were a total of 4 TD's and 2 FG's today.
The game started off with the Eagles scoring early in the game and things just kept going their way through out the game. Between 2 interceptions from Duke Riley, 4 sacks from Javon Hargrave, and a forced fumble from Jalen Mills. The Giants tried to make it a game but the Eagles defense wasn't prepared to give up many rushing yards. Barkley only produced 31 yards on 5 attempts which forced the Giants to pass more than they would have liked. This was a good thing for the Eagles defense though. It helped them stay in coverage and not worry about the run as much which ultimately led to the Eagles winning the game and taking a solid lead in the Divison (6-1)
Next week they play the Cowboys and I look forward to seeing how they play again. After a full stadium, well as full as the covid protocols allow it to be. I expect it to be another full house next week when the Eagles host the Cowboys.
Week 6 was a wild game for the Eagles because of the 10-13 loss to the Steelers last week. They came into this game with something to prove and a furious about the loss to the Steelers.
The Eagles were able to give their fans a show today. The final score was 24 to 59 and a lot of people had the Eagles projected to lose today.
The offense produced:
Jalen finished the game with 13/16 Attempts and 244 yards with 3 TD's.
Miles Sanders had another 100+ yard rushing game with 3 TD's and 2 Receptions for 29 yards.
Marquise Goodwin led with 4 Receptions for 88 yards and 3 TD's.
1 Field goal
The Defense had:
6 interceptions with 2 of them being pick 6's
The Eagles came to win and showed us out on the field today. A lot of people were shocked with how well they played today but now everyone knows that the Eagles are taking this season serous and plan on taking the division.
They have another division game next week @ home vs the Giants. After today's game the crowd is ready for another outstanding performance like today's game. We will see if Jalen Hurts can keep it together and keep leading the Eagles to a division win.
Keep an eye out for next weeks after game report where I'll give you some stats and highlights of the game.
The Eagles shut out the 49'ers at their own field this week. They won 27 to 0 to make it a 4-0 start to the season. This game was one of the craziest games I've had the privilege to watch during this covid 19 2020 NFL season. It was a ground and pound type of game with eagles rushing 29 times today. Jalen only managed to pass for 131 yards and 1 TD but they didn't need to pass the ball much today. The offense had 2 touch downs and 2 field goals but the defense forced 2 fumbles and 1 interception by Jalen Mills which ended up being a pick 6 but they missed the extra point and that gave them the final 27 points.
Overall the team played well today but I would have liked to see more action in the game. I like seeing the Eagles win but I also love seeing great close games. But I give the Eagles credit for not forcing passes or making bad decisions today.
So far they are 4-0 but they have to play the number a defense next week that most teams dread playing. We will see how much longer they can keep this run going. But I look forward to seeing how they do against a defense as stacked as the Steelers D.
Keep an eye out for my after game report next week. Have a great week
Cardinals lose at home 21 to 62 and leave their fans upset
Week 2 didn't play out like the Cardinals had hoped it would. After a the short New Years break the players got everyone seemed to be sluggish out on the field and it really showed during the game Sunday afternoon. I think some of the players might have celebrated a little to much during the Holiday ????.
The Cardinals defense came to play and had numerous picks and stops but when they are on the field for 3 quarters of the game. They start to burn down and give up more and more big plays. The offense was able to put together 2 scoring drives all game and the defense scored on a pick 6 but the 21 points was not going to mean anything against a team that racked up 62 points on offense and defense.
Dwayne Haskins just recently signed with the Cardinals and is already in the dog house for the team. He was caught at a strip club the Friday night before the game and he was extremely intoxicated when the Uber driver took him back to the hotel. Throwing 4 interceptions and only producing 159 yards wasn't his best performance of his short career but it also wasn't his worst. The team has a lot to discuss about the coming weeks until Kyler Murray comes back from his injury. I don't know if a player has ever been fired by 2 teams in one week but Haskins might be the first player to get canned twice in one week. There's just no excuse for how he played sunday. I know the players wanted to kick back and enjoy the holiday with their family but you also have to be responsible enough not to go get wasted at a strip club 2 nights before game day. I'll make sure I keep following the news around Haskins and keep everyone updated as the reports come in.
over all I think the Cardinals had a huge eye opener and are really missing their fearless leader right now. Haskins horrible week might actually increase Murray's value and have done him a favor when it comes to his contract extension.
Even though I know everyone is angry with the team right now. Please don't lose hope yet. They will pull it together and when Kyler comes back the team should really pick up and start giving you guys what you want to see.
Until next week
Happy New Years!!
Cardinals take the win in San Francisco 38 - 24 but it wasn't an easy task. Things haven't started off to well for the cardinals so far this season. The Cardinals came into week 1 with out a QB because of a preseason week 2 injury to Kyler Murray. With some last minute scrambling they were able to sign free agent Dwayne Haskins. He will start until Murray returns week 4 or 5.
The week 1 game started off kinda slow. Both teams were having trouble finishing drives. But eventually at the end of the first quarter the 49'ers were able to put 6 points on the score board. But things started picking up during the second quarter when the 49'ers put up 10 more points and the Cardinals were finally able to put up 21 points to make it a 21 - 16 game at the end of the first half. The Cardinals came back out to start the third quarter with 7 more points to make it 28 - 16 and it would stay 28-16 until the 4th quarter when the 49'ers were able to score 1 more touch down with a 2 point conversion for 8 points to make it a 28 - 24 game. But the Cardinals weren't going to let them come back and take the lead. So they fought their way down the field to score another touch down and eventually a field goal to end the game 38 - 24.
Haskins passed for 275 yards, 2 touch downs and 2 interceptions.
Drake, Kirk, and Daniels each had a rushing touch down and Williams had 2 receiving touch downs.
Gonzalez - 1/1 FG attempts
Final Score Cardinals 38 - 49'ers 24
