Andy Reid Esque Option Style offense Installed in Atlanta by Dan Quinn

In the Week 4 game against the New Orleans Saints we saw Dan Quinn install a form of Andy Reids option offense to pick up the slack of missing Julio Jones due to injury. It started with former Navy QB Keenan Reynolds at the helm and he ran it quite competently until he was sidelined with an abdominal injury. After the injury Jeff Tuel was in at QB and used the Triple Option specifically to great effectiveness in the final scoring drive for the Falcons. The biggest thing that was seen is that it was rare for Atlanta not to have 2 running backs on the field. This new offensive scheme saw the two main HBs for Atlanta (Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman) pick up 235 total yards of offense as well as score 3 touchdowns. Looking forward the Falcons have signed former Jacksonville Jaguar and University of Michigan Quarterback Denard Robinson. The dynamic two way player from Michigan looks to be essentially adding a third running back into the fold at QB. However the biggest thing about Robinson is that he can and will throw. He broke Drew Brees' college record for most offensive yards in a season with 4272 yards with 2500 of those coming through the air and 1700 coming on the ground. When asked about the move and what this means for Keenan Reynolds Atlanta coach Dan Quinn said "Look we love Keenan and he has the attitude we want here in Atlanta, but Denard is a special talent for this kind of offense and with Keenan hurt we had to give him a chance. Hopefully once they are both healthy we can have them work with each other in practice to improve both of their abilities." When asked about Jeff Tuel Quinn had no comment.

Devonta Freeman Shows True Bell Cow Ability

During the 37-7 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles one player emerged as the Falcons top weapon. That being Devonta Freeman, he had 30 carries for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns. He opened the game with two quick Touchdowns of 40+ yards, and then kept the clock and the chains moving with his consistent output. With the injury to Julio Jones look to see Freeman step into an even bigger role in the high powered Atlanta offense if that's even possible. It does also play into Tevin Coleman's hands as the higher workload for Freeman could lead to more opportunities on 3rd down and later in the game as Freeman becomes the focal point.

Keenan Reynolds Gimmick or Real Offensive Player.

A former Quarterback for the Navy Midshipmen has made his presence felt on the NFL level recently after being signed off of the Carolina Panthers practice squad by the division rival Atlanta Falcons. He was seen in the last game playing the same role that Jeff Tuel played early in the season. Primarily in a Gun and Pistol look Keenan used his unique skill set to run a variation of the offense he ran at Navy which lead him to the career record for Rushing Touchdowns (88) at the NCAA Division I level breaking Barry Sanders previous mark. He has however seen some action throwing down field to Julio Jones of all people at the end of the Jets game. It remains to be seen whether or not the College style offense that Keenan commands in the NFL is here to stay. What we do know however is that if anyone can make it work, it's Keenan Reynolds.
