Playoff Races

AFC PLAYOFF RACES:

AFC East:
The Dolphins at 10-1 have the divsion on lock with the 2nd place Jets holding a 4-6 record.

AFC West:
With 3 teams all bunched together this is anyones division. The Raiders currently lead the division at 6-4, but the Chargers at 5-5 and Chiefs at 4-6 look to close the ground in the last few weeks. The Raiders have a tough road ahead of them as they don't face a single opponent below .500, and face their division foe Chargers. The Chargers have to face the 8-2 Ravens this week and the Raiders next week, but after that the rest of their opponents are below .500. Finally, the Chiefs face three straight teams below .500, but then have to face the Chargers, Cowboys, and Redskins, not an easy task.
Prediction: The Chargers win this division in week 17.

AFC North:
The Browns and Ravens will be battling for the division all the way to week 17. With the Browns at 10-1 and the Ravens at 8-2 look for this division to be decided by the team that doesn't lose the rest of the way. That team will be the Browns, they have a relatively easy schedule remaining barring giving away a win. The Ravens aren't a slouch either and could aslo win out himself, but in the end it won't matter.
Prediction: The Browns win this divsion by going 15-1, Ravens finished 13-3.

AFC South:
The Titans and Texans are gonna be in a battle until the very end. Titans are 8-2 and the Texans are 8-3 and they both have a shot at winning the division. The Colts are unlikely to be there but still have a chance at 4-6. The Titans have a tough schedule remaining with just 2 teams below .500 left and the divsion foe Texans week 17. The Texans have roughly the same schedule as the Titans so look for that game to be a blast week 17.
Prediction: Sheesh, how can you make a prediction in this situation. Let me flip a coin for this one, Siri says heads so Titans take the division.

NFC PAYOFF RACES

NFC East:
This is a very tight race between the back to back superbowl champion Eagles and the surging Cowboys. The Eagles at 10-1 hold a slight advantage on the 9-2 Cowboys. The Eagles have only 1 team below .500 left on their schedule, they will have to earn it if they want the division. The Cowboys on the other hand have 3 teams below .500 on thei remaining schedule. Will it be enough to dethrone the Eagles??
Prediction: No, unfortunately it will not be enough to be able to dethrone the Eagles, but never say never.

NFC West:
Another tight race between the Cardinals and the 49ers. The Cardinals have a fairly tough schedule remaining facing the 10-1 Eagles, 8-3 Texans, and 8-2 Titans. The Niners have the Texans and Titans also left, but after that all teams below .500.
Prediction: The Cardinals win the division on tiebraker.

NFC North:
Well this is an interesting race, all teams are below .500. It's really anyone's game at this point, whoever wants it more. The Bears at 4-6, Vikings at 4-7, and Packers at 3-7 all have a chance in this wide open division.
Predicition: The Vikings hang on to the division even though they finish the season below .500.

NFC South:
The Saints and the Bucs are in a tight race with the Saints having the slight advantage at 7-3 over the 6-4 Bucs. The Saints don't have an easy schedule left but that hasn't stopped them in the past. The Bucs definetly have the easier schedule but will it be enough?
Prediction: The Saints finish the season strong and win the NFC West.

PLAYOFF SEEDINGS PREDICTION:

AFC:
1. Browns
2. Dolphins
3. Titans
4. Chargers
Wildcard 1: Ravens
Wildcard 2: Texans

NFC:
1. Eagles
2. Cardinals
3. Saints
4. Vikings
Wildcard 1: Cowboys
Wildcard 2: 49ers

Around the League FA 1 Recap

Free Agency Recap

AFC East:

Bills:
The Bills added some veteran talent so far in this offseason with the signing of long-time veteran kicker Brandon McManus to a 1 year deal. They also added veterans Brian Winters and Mike Pouncey to the o-line. They added LE John Simon and P Sterling Hofrichter to 2 year contracts. The Bills splurged and added one of our top listed FA's this offseason in Coop to one-year deals.er Kupp to a 4 year $78 million contract.
Overall Grade B+, The Bills added some veteran depth at cheap and short deals, while adding high-end talent to a relatively cheap price.

Dolphins:
The Dolphins added some of the big name talent in this years free agent class in FS Keanu Neal, and LE Tak McKinley. Neal's contract at 5 years $85.6 million and Tak's contract at 3 years $64 million. These guys are going to be the face of a threatening Dolphins defense going forward.  They also added C Austin Blythe to a 3 year $19.4 million deal. A solid signing for a pretty solid offensive lineman.
Overall Grade A-, some great signings, didn't come cheap but got the best talent in FA.

Jets:
The Jets only made one move so far and that was signing veteran WR Marvin Jones to a 2 year $11.7 million deal. This is a solid signing as they add a sure handed reciever to a still growing QB.
Overall Grade B-, good signing but need to address more needs, whether through draft or free agency.

Patriots:
N/A

AFC North:

Ravens:
The Ravens signed center Dion Dawkins to a 4 year $39.8 million, and they signed MLB Anthony Walker Jr. to a 4 year $21.8 million contract. The Ravens added a solid offensive lineman and a good depth linebacker to help sure up the middle of the defense.
Overall Grade: C+, the Dawkins contract is a little high and might start to be an impediment in a few seasons.

Browns:
Coming off a super bowl loss the Browns let Kareem Hunt go. They added long-time veteran Ndamukong Suh, Suh brings experience and strong pass rushing abilities to an already strong d-line.
Overall Grade: C, the loss of Hunt can not be overshadowed, while the signing of Suh is good for the team it doesn't make up for that loss.

Steelers:
N/A

Bengals:
N/A

AFC South:

Titans:
The Titans added DT Jordan Willis to a 5 year $83.6 million contract. The superstar defensive tackle is incedibly quick and can get the QB as quickly as he can stop an inside zone. They also added barn burner running back TJ Logan to a team friendly 4 year $8.2 million contract.
Overall Grade: B, while Willis is good they slightly over paid, overall a very solid few signings.

Texans:
N/A

Colts:
N/A

Jaguars:
N/A

AFC West:

Raiders:
So, I don't know where to start with this one. Mit Trubisky 4 years, $94.5 million, no that's not a typo. I mean he's a solid backup and a okay starter, and I know the Raiders don't have their first. But 94.5 million? I'd rather go Kirk Cousins, hell, give me Tim Tebow for 1 season then pay that, but hey if they can make it work we won't even talk about it. They had a couple other good signings in RE Tanzel Smart, QB Davis Webb, P Pat O'Donnell, FS Alvin Davis, LE RJ McIntosh, DT Maliek Collins, LG Ethan Pocic, and K Dan Bailey to 1 year contracts. Have not heard of many of these guys but they are all on cheap short contracts.
Overall Grade: C-, the many depth signings for cheap help to mitigate some of the Trubisky contract damage.

Broncos:
The Broncos signed CB Sidney Jones to a 4 year $31.4 million contract, a good signing of a solid 2nd corner. They also signed veteran defensive linemen RE Everson Griffen to a 1 year $7.41 million deal, DT Linval Joseph to a 1 year $4.49 million contract, and DT Calais Campbell to a 1 year $12 million deal. A bunch of veteran defensive linemen for 1 year contracts. A smart move, but maybe 1 too many.
Overall Grade: A, Great signings all around from a solid CB in Sidney Jones and a bunch of grizzly veteran pass rushers to solidify your d-line.

Chargers:
The Chargers signed TE Jonu Smith to a 4 year $54.5 milion deal. Well I figure the Chargers have high hopes for Smith in their offense because they definetly paif for him.
Overall Grade: B-, only one signing and a bit of an overpay, but a solid player nonetheless.

Chiefs:
N/A

NFC:

NFC North:
Vikings:
The Vikings made a couple big splashes this offseason adding WR Sammy Watkins to a 4 year $43.8 million deal, and FS Ahkello Witherspoon to a 3 year $14.1 million deal. Watkins brings another weapong to a now Kirk Cousinless Vikings team. Witherspoon is a solid safety who can make a few plays every now and then. They also added RE Brandon Graham to a 1 year $3.91 million deal, and DT Michael Brockers to a 2 year $13.4 million deal. Some good signings for their dline and they add some overall talent and veteran leadership.
Overall Grade: A+, No more Kirk, and now they have some cap to make the moves they wanted and boy did they make some good ones. No over pays, and some good value in their signings.

Packers:
N/A

Lions:
N/A

Bears:
N/A

Make some moves please.

NFC South:

Buccaneers:
The Bucs signed RB Tevin Coleman to a 3 year $14 million deal, a solid player for a decent price.
Overall Grade: B, solid player decent price

Panthers:
The Panthers signed DT Kawann Short to a 1 year $2.95 million deal, and RE Solomon Thomas to a 7 year $8.75 million deal. Decent depth signings here.
Overall Grade: B-, No big signings but not that will hurt them either, being conservative is never too bad.

Saints:
N/A

Falcons:
N/A

NFC East:

Eagles:
The Eagles signed FS Damontae Kazee to a 2 year $6.42 million deal. After winning the bowl it's not surprising we see them being fairly conservative in the off-season, no need to fix something that isn't broken.

Giants:
N/A

Redskins:
N/A

Cowboys:
N/A

Another boring division.

NFC West:

Cardinals:
The Cardinals signed LG Forrest Lamp to a 3 year $29.9 million contract. Not a bad contract for a fairly young solid offensive lineman for a team that needed OL. The Cards also brought back lifelong Cardinal CB Patrick Peterson for another season. After not being able to agree to terms we thought his time in the desert was over but I guess he didn't want to leave as he signed a team friendly 1 year $7.68 million deal.
Overall Grade: B, nothing major, but they filled a hole at o line and brought back one of their legends.

Seahawks:
The Seahawks added RG Nico Siragusa to a 1 year $4.35 million. Solid signing, nothing risky and filling a team need.
Overall Grade: B-, would like to see more spending but haven't made a bad move.

49ers:
N/A

Rams:
N/A

Best FA Classes:
Vikings, Dolphins, Broncos.
The first 2 teams on this list make sense and as I tried to find a third team I settled on the Broncos. They added a solid CB in Sidney Jones and a lot of solid veteran d linemne, and none of the them to more than 1 season deals.

Most Risky Signing:
Well the only reason this exists is because of Trubisky. So there it is, can he lead the Raiders back or will they sink? Big expectations now for their $94.5 million man.

Top FA's This Offseason

TOP FA's This Offseason:

HB Kareem Hunt 91 Overall Star 26 Years Old:
Hunt spent most of last season as the backup to AFC RB of the year Nick Chubb. Even though he was the backup Hunt still managed to rush for 537 yards and 7 TD's. As a 91 overall Hunt is looking for big time money which is why the Browns decided to let him go. Even though he's only a star, any team that adds him will be gaining an explosive back who can change the game in one play.

WR Cooper Kupp 90 Overall Superstar 28 Years Old:
Kupp was a bit of a forgotten man in the run heavy Rams offense. Racking up only 525 yards and 0 touchdowns. It's sfae to assume that Kupp and the Rams both agreed to part ways after the season. Kupp is a solid slot WR that has the chance to make some big plays. He's not a burner but he has good hands and is a solid route runner.

CB Richard Sherman 88 Overall X-Factor 33 Years Od:
Sherman may have lost his step, but his abilities and his X-Factor make him worth a one year contract. Maybe the team that sign him will consider moving him to safety where he could be a ball hawk.

SS Keanu Neal 88 Overall Star 26 Years Old:
A very good young player who has had a couple of rough season so maybe a new place to play will be best for his future. As young as he is look for Neal to get maybe 4-5 years and some decent money to go with it. Whatever team can afford him in the bidding war will have a solid young safety to lock down their defense.

RE Tak McKinley 86 Overall Star 25 years Old:
Former 27th overall pick Tak McKinley wasn't resigned by the Falcons and became a free agent last night. At 25 years old Tak has his best years still ahead of him, with his ability to rush the passer, and his impressive speed he can drop back into coverage as well. Look for Tak to get paid this offseason.

BLITZ Year 2 Awards

BLITZ LG Year 2 Yearly Awards:

SUPERBOWL CHAMPION: PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

The Eagles finish off an amazing season with a hard fought 20-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Back to back championships, can we now call them a dynasty? Too soon to tell but he looks to repeat next year.

AFC Champipn: Cleveland Browns

The Browns had a tremendous season for now the 2nd straight year making it to back to back superbowl's. This team is getting better each season and it's up to the rest of the league to stop them. Is this the new Warriors Cavs??

NFL MVP: Dak Prescott QB Bengals:

Dak had a great season leading the NFL in passing yards with 4,177, and 4th in the league in toucdowns with 37. Dak added 350 rushing yards and 4 TD's this season. However, the Bengals did not make the playoffs this year finishing just 7-9.

Best Coach: Blitz HC, Cardinals

Well guess I win this, probably the only thing I will win.

AFC:

OPOY: Dak Prescott QB Bengals:
Dak is your MVP so only natural he adds the AFC offensive player of the year award to his resume.

DPOY: Blake Cashman MLB Jets:
Blake had an outstanding season with the Jets finishing 2nd in the NFL in INT's by a linebacker with 7, he added 2 sacks and 1 forced fumble, and 1 TD. Cashman helped lead the Jets to the Divisional round of this years playoffs.

OROY: Travis Etienne RB Patriots:
Travis had a standout rookie season finishing 2nd in the AFC in yards with 1,260, and 10 touchdowns. The Patriots finished 8-8 this season but with this budding star in the backfield look for them to compete for their division next season.

DROY: Jacob Phillips LB Chargers:
Phillips' stats don't jump off the page at you but he had very impressive stats in his rookie campaign. He had 76 tackles with 11 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. He also had 4 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles. Phillip's filled a solid hybrid role for the Chargers being able to drop nack in coverage and rush the passer or stop the run.

Best QB: Dak Prescott, Bengals
4,177 Yards, 37 TD's, 16 INT's

Best RB: Nick Chubb, Browns
1,681 Yards, 16 TD's, 3 Fumbles

8/8 FG, 59/61 XP

NFC:

OPOY: Kyler Murray, QB Cardinals
Kyler had a great season leading the NFL in TD's with 44 and added 3,718 yards to go with it. With Kyler leading the offense the Cardinals were able to make it to the NFC Championship game before losing to the Eagles.

DPOY: Jordan Hicks, LB Cardinals
Jordan along with his teammate Kyler put up one of the best seasons at his position in the league. He led all linebackers with 8 picks, and added 90 tackles with 2.5 sacks, but as with Kyler he could only get his team to the NFC Chamionship game.

OROY: Jake Fromm, QB Saints
Fromm had a fantasic rookie season, possibly 1 touchdown short of NFC OPOY, Fromm had 43 TD's and 3,744 yards. His ability to find the endzone helped the Saints have a great regular season, and make the Divisional round of this year's playoffs.

DROY: Jeff Okudah, DB Vikings
Okudah led all NFL rookies with 8 INT's, he also added 74 tackles to have a really standout rookie campaign. Could the NFL have found its next shutdown corner? Maybe, but with him back there that Vikings defense can be scarry to face.

AFC & NFC PLAYOFF RACES:

AFC:
In the AFC seeds 2-10 are all decided by 1 game. if it were to end today the first 4 teams out would be the Bills, Jets, Patriots, and Jaguars. Look for the fight for wild card spots in the AFC to last until the very end. One thing to note are the amount of teams with 3 wins in the AFC, look for one of them to make a run and make things even more interesting. My 3 win team to watch in the AFC is the Browns. Last year's superbowl champ, look for them to turn it into gear now that we are passed week 8.

NFC:
The NFC is not as bunched up as the AFC but there will be some fun races to watch. There are several solid teams sitting just outside that last wild card spot. Look for the NFC South division to have 3 playoff teams this season. My 3 win team to watch in the NFC is the Buccaneers. Coming off the heels of a 2 game suspension, look for Bucs to turn the pressure up as we head into the home stretch. I would be very surprised if the Bucs don't make the playoffs.

MY TOP 5 TEAMS SO FAR:
1. Redskins
2. Dolphins
3. Ravens
4. Packers
5. Saints
Of all the teams in the League, Skins has impressed me most this season with Dolphins not too far behind. The AFC and NFC will both be tough to get through, but I expect at least one of these teams to be in the SuperBowl. Don't sleep on Ravens either, in his first season in the league, he has proven he can hang around with the best of them.

What to watch for in week 9:
Try to keep tabs on all the bubble teams this week. As we turn the midseason point, the wild card race, or even division race for some is kicking into full swing, and there is not much wiggle room for any team. This is gonna be a fun race for the playoffs. Sit back and enjoy some good damn football.

League in Review Week 5

WEEK 5 LEAGUE RECAP:
Who so far is the most inpressive team in the league?
There are a couple of teams that have caught my eye, but I'm just going to name a couple of them.
The Ravens: The Ravens made a big aquisition this season aquiring Antonio Brown. He has started the season 4-0, and besides a 37-36 win against the Colts, none of the games have been close. Look for Ravens to make a big playoff push this season.
The Dolphins: After being one of the worst teams last season he guaranteed that he would be competitve this season. After starting 4-1, and showing a very strong run game, look for the Dolphins to hang around and possibly take the AFC East title away from the Patriots.
The Packers: After finishing the season red hot the Packers have picked up right where they left off. After starting 3-1 the Packers look to keep building on their strong end of the 2019 season. This adds just another team to an already crowded NFC playoff race.

Week 5 Power Rankings:
1. Ravens (4-0)
2. Falcons (3-1)
3. Jaguars (4-1)
4. Packers (3-1)
5. Chiefs (3-1)
6. Redskins (4-1)
7. Dolphins (4-1)
8. Saints (3-1)
9. Jets (4-1)
10. Colts (3-1)

Through 5 weeks it's still hard to tell who is for real and who is pretending, but I'd expect at least 7 out of these 10 teams to make the playoffs.
If you found this interesting and would like for me to contiune making week in reviews please post in chat. Expect week 8 power rankings article to be an in depth look at teams that have made the highest jumps and falls in the rankings.

League in Review Week 3

After 2 weeks it's shaping up to be a very competitive league with many teams fighting for a wildcard.

Way Too Early Assumptions:

The NFC West is the best divsion in the league this season? With 3 undefeated teams and another 1 at 500 I can't see why this won't be the best division in football this season. Look for this division to be very competitive top to bottom
The AFC East is the best division in the AFC? A little harder to convince me on, yes they are the only division in the AFC with 3 teams at or above 500, and 2 of them are undefeated. For the moment they are definetly the best division on paper but things can certainly change.
BOLD PREDICTION: The NFC West will have 3 playoff teams this season.

What to watch for week 3:

Chiefs vs 49ers, a battle of the unbeatens. This is a prove yourself game for both users.

Packers vs Redskins, this could be one of the best games of the week. Look for both of these teams to be battling for a playoff spot at the end of the season.

Blitzofficial AFC Playoff Preview

We are about to head into week 17, and playoffs are right around the corner. To start we will take a look at who have solidified their spot in the playoffs and who is still fighting for a chance to compete for the last superbowl before the league restarts.

AFC Playoff Preview:
Both the Jets and the Ravens are poised to have 14-2 seasons. We will see how the tiebreaker works, but I believe the Jets will take home the 1 seed and the Ravens will be the 2. The Shamrocks are sitting at 11-3 looking to complete a 13-3 season, the Shamrocks have already clinched the 3 seed in the AFC but look to sharpen their game before playoffs in the coming weeks. The last division winner in the AFC is the Texans who are 8-6 at the moment but will finish the season at 10-6. They will be the 4 seed. The 2 wildcards are also set in the AFC as the Patriots and the Browns will both make the playoffs. Week 17 looks like it will dictate who will be the final wildcard out of the AFC.
AFC Playoff Predictions:
6 Seed Browns @ 3 Seed Shamrocks - Browns beat the Shamrocks and move on to face the 1 Seed Jets
5 Seed Patriots @ 4 Seed Texans - Texans beat the Patriots and face the 2 Seed Ravens
6 Browns @ 1 Ravens - Jets
4 Texans @ 2 Jetss - Texans
AFC Champioship: 4 Texans @ 1 Ravens - Texans Move on to the superbowl.
