Washington Redskins Under New Management

As the OMFl 2019 Draft approaches, the Washington Redskins have decided to hire a new coach and general manager. Coach Jennings in a greenhorn when it comes to the OMFL, but he does carry with him a long resume of experience in various other leagues--having coached and worked as a GM in the Madden world for nearly 5 years now.

We caught up with Coach Jennings to get the low-down on what he hopes to achieve this season.

So Coach, what can you say about being named the new head coach and general manager of the Washington Redskins?

"Thanks for having me today guys. I have to say first and foremost that I am very excited to be able to step into this role and I am honored to be able to work with a franchise that has so much history and seen so much success."

This team faced some adversity last year and sits in a tough division. Your predecessor knew his time was running short and signed several big name veterans in a "win now" strategy. What will be your approach with this roster?

"No doubt this is a tough division and I look forward to facing some of the great teams that play within it. In terms of man who sat in this chair before me, I have no desire to speak ill of him but there is no doubt some roster changes needed to be made. There is some fantastic young talent on this team and in order to make sure we could resign our own guys, we had to cut some of those veterans you talked about. We just made a few moves in Free Agency that we are excited about, but at the end of the day this organization's philsophy will always be: build through the draft."

The Washington Redskins enter the draft with the 11th overall pick. There are some obvious needs at key positions that still need to be filled. Rumors are there may be some draft day movement in order to get the franchise player they are seeking. For now, all we can do is wait and see.

Thanks for tuning in and we look forward to providing you with all of the Redskins news you need to know thorughout the season.

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 12 Recap

In a wild stream of events, the Pittsburgh Steelers dominated the Indianapolis Colts in what turned into one of the most bizarre games in UMFL history.

All seemed normal as the Steelers kicked off to the Colts at their regularly scheduled gametime. After an impressive first drive by the Colts which resulted in 3 points, the Steelers defense stood up and held the Colts to 10 points total for the rest of the 1st half.

The Steelers offense was putting on a clinic for the Colts--scoring at will. By the end of the 1st half, running back Le'Veon Bell had rushed for over 100 yards and 2 touchdowns as well as catching several balls for another touchdown. In a last second drive before the end of the half, Deangelo Williams took the ball to the house on a 53 yard touchdown run.

It was at this time that things got weird. When it was time to come back out onto the field for the 2nd half, the Colts were no where to be found. Reports began flooding out of the locker room that the Indianapolis coach loaded his team up onto the bus and took off (which was strange enough on its own, but made even more bizarre by the fact that the Colts were the home team). The Colts' bus did not get far however, before the players stopped the bus and tossed the coach into a nearby river. They quickly returned to the stadium saying they would finish the game without that coward!

Unfortunately, because the UMFL had never experienced an incident like this before the game was restarted from the beginning. Nonetheless, it did not matter as the Pittsburgh Steelers handled the "coachless" Colts with ease--winning the game 17-3.

The Steelers welcome the New York Football Giants to Pittsburgh next week in what is sure to be a high scoring game.

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 11 Recap

Another week of UMFL football, another outstanding divisonal matchup between longtime rivals--the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Brown. The Steelers defeated the Browns in a late game drive--finishing with a score of 18-13.

The Steelers were hard pressed to get their run game going this afternoon. The Browns rushing defense was on point, holding Le'veon Bell to 20 carries for only 39 yards. Nonetheless, Cleveland's passing defense could not stop the powerful arm of Ben Roethlisberger or the quick feet and athletic play of the Steelers' wide receivers.

Roethlisberger was fantastic on the day, throwing 23 completions on 28 attempts for 301 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The incredibly talented Martavis Bryant was unstoppable yet again, as he caught 5 passes for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Steelers head to Lucas Oil Stadium next week to take on the Colts.

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 10 Recap

After suffering from their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers welcomed longtime inter-conference rival--the Dallas Cowboys--to Hines Field for what turned out to be one hell of a game. The Steelers defeated the Cowboys 31-30 and move to 8-1 on the season.

In a hotly contested game, both teams seemed to score at will. The Steelers top 5 rush defense, seemed to have few answers for the Cowboys running attack; with touchdowns coming from three different running backs. Fortunately, the Steelers defense stood up against the Cowboys passing game, as the Black and Gold help Tony Romo to 19 completions on 30 attempts, 247 yards, and 1 interception.

Down by 6 points in the finals seconds of the game, the Steelers managed to drive the length of the field and score a walkoff touchdown to win the game. Ben Roethlisberger put up excellent numbers--12 completions on 20 attempts, 307 passing yards, and 3 touchdowns. The true star of the show however, was wide receiver Martavis Bryant who scored the game winning touchdown. Bryant had an outstanding game--hauling in 6 receptions for 225 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Steelers head to Cleveland next week for a UMFL Week 11 divisonal game against the Browns.

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 9 Recap

In their first loss of the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the Baltimore Ravens in a 31-24 defeat.

What began with a fantastic defensive pick 6 touchdown by Steelers' MLB Ryan Shaizer, ended with a last second chance by the Steelers to tie the game, but to no avail. Unfortunately, veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made a rookie mistake--throwing an interception on the Ravens' 1 yard-line with seconds left on the clock.

The Steelers are now 7-1 on the season and look to take on the Dallas Cowboys in a week 10 matchup.

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 6 Recap

In what can only be described as Pittsburgh's worst game yet this season, the Steelers barely escaped Miami with a 30-25 victory.

Ben Roethlisberger threw his first 2 interceptions of the season--one of which going for a touchdown. Fortunately, Big Ben made up for it by maintaining a stat line of 13 completions on 19 attempts, 220 yards, and 2 touchdowns.

The rushing attack was out in full force as Le'Veon Bell continues to lead the league as the UMFL's top running back. Bell carried the ball 21 times for 117 yards and a touchdown, while his friend and fellow talented tail back DeAngelo Williams rushed 3 times for 71 yards and a touchdown of his own.

On the defensive side of the ball, rookie FS Malik Hooker continues to make waves as he picked up his 3rd interception on the season.

The Steelers welcome the New England Patriots to Hines Field next week in what is sure to be a heated match-up.

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 4 Recap

In their toughest game yet, the Pittsburgh Steelers again proved victorious--defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 24-17.

What started as a defensive stalemate, quickly changed after Le'Veon Bell found his way into the endzone for a rushing touchdown. Bell finished the day with 18 carries for 64 yards and 1 touchdown.

After a tight first half, Ben Roethlisberger used the opening possesion of the 2nd half to throw a quick pass to Martavis Bryant for a one play 76 yard touchdown. Roethlisberger was flawless, throwing 16 completions on 20 attempts for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns.

However, the Chiefs were not willing to give up quite so easy--tying the game 17-17 late in the 4th quarter. With less than 2 minutes on the clock and an entire field to go, Big Ben was up to the challenge. In one last effort to win the game, Roethlisberger threw a deep pass to Antonio Brown for the game winning touchdown.

We caught up with Ben after the game, asking him what was going through his mind in that moment:

"KC's defense had been tough all game, but in those final two minutes I knew if we could get the ball back then we could win. We were driving well and had made it into field goal range, but it was really windy and I wanted to get us to a place where it would be easier on Boz to make the kick. I got the guys up to the line to run one final play. AB was running the fly route and I saw he only had one guy on him. Whenever we've got that look I am going to AB--he will beat single coverage everytime."

The Steelers look forward to playing the New York Jets next week.

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 3 Recap

Another week and another win for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers team marched into Philadelphia and walked out with a 38-20 victory.

"Big" Ben Roethlisberger was perfect on the day, throwing 14 for 14 pass completions for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Both of those touchdowns were caught by the electric and hopefully now sober Martavis Byrant.

The Eagles were completely incapable of stopping the twin-headed rushing attack of the Steelers, led by Le'Veon Bell and Deangelo Williams. Bell rushed for 167 yards on 16 attempts and 2 touchdowns, while Williams carried the ball 9 times for 149 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Steelers welcome the Kansas City Chiefs to Hines Field next week, in what will surely be a heated conference battle.
