NFC West Battle Week 1

After the Rams defeated the Cowboys at home and the Seahawks leave Atlanta with a win over the Falcons, the Week 1 matchup between the Cardinals and 49ers ensures at least one team in the NFC West will start the season in the loss column.

In a division that's expected to be competative with all 4 teams the renewed rivalry between Coach Tree and Coach Chilly gets off to an early start in 2020.  Key factors in Week 1 will be the San Francisco front line attempting to contain second year signal caller Kyler Murray and the ability of the Arizona defense to slow down all of the backfield speed and downfield weapons the 49ers offense will hope to unleash early and often this season.

4NI Flashback

When Shawn Halterman was drafted 2nd overall in the 2018 draft of Madden 17, he may have been one of the most exciting players in 4thNinches history.

His toughness in the pocket and cannon of an arm would go on to be among the league’s leaders for each season to follow, but Halterman would also find his lowest point vs the league Commissioner’s Green Bay Packers.

Crice would completely neutralize Halterman and render the entire offense useless en route to a 27-0 drubbing while tuning up for his playoff run that would soon follow.

Best of luck to Crice from all of us at 4thNinches as he competes in the EA Access Madden Bomber League tournament!!!!

EA Access Madden 20 Sneak Peek

As the anticipation for the release of Madden 20 continues to build, players have now begun to download the EA Access trial to finally see for themselves how the game plays.  The information and videos released in the last few weeks has stoked excitement, even for the few players lucky enough to experience the closed beta, as this is the first opportunity to test the game more thoroughly prior to the start of this years connected franchise.

4thNinches coaches must have their team selection in by August 5th, and undoubtedly many EA Access users will be doing their due diligence to prepare themselves to commit to the team that gives them the best chance to compete and succeed in the league this year.  What teams are surprising under or over rated?  How will the mock selections compare now that gameplay can be factored in along with the salaries, ratings, and attributes we've been analyzing thus far?  And most importantly, how much more fun is this game to play than last year's version?

Jags WIN

The Jacksonville Jaguars pull of their first win of the season after knocking off the visiting Tennessee Titans.

The Jags defense managed to hold the explosive Titans offense to under 200 yards while intercepting Marcus Mariota twice.  The Titans defense also did a remarkable job limiting the Jags offense but they were unable to force QB Blake Bortles into any turnovers.

The AFC South rivals will face each other again in Tennessee in week 14.

Not Again !

The Philadelphia Eagles once again must come to terms with losing their Super Star QB for an extended period of time.  As Wentz hung in the pocket to deliver a laser beam throw to Nelson Agholar he sustained a blow that resulted in a torn muscle in his throwing shoulder.  The team has been surprisingly quiet on his condition since suffering a bitter loss to the Colts after Wentz exited the game early in the first quarter.

Eagles insiders suggest Wentz could be back on the practice field by the team’s Week 9 bye week, however Coach Riley has yet to comment publicly following the home loss on the game or the Eagles current situation at QB.

Prior to the season the Eagles placed third string QB Nate Sudfield on their practice and now may need to make room for him on the active roster.  It’s assumed last years Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles will be the team’s starting QB fur the duration of Wentz’s time recovering from injury, just the type of scenario eagles fans debated the entire offseason after the team decided to not only obstain from trading Foles but also extend his contract for an other $14 million.

Obviously the outlook in the NFC East has changed dramatically and the Eagles will have quite the challenge ahead of them with their difficult schedule as they prepare to stay on track with their playoff ambitions while missing arguably one of the best QBs in the league.

Top 10 Teams Selected

The first ten teams selected for 4thNinches Madden 19 had mostly been predicted between Mock Draft selections.  The most obvious being the Packers, Eagles and Patriots, but several coaches went with thier favorite NFL teams as well.

Some minor controversy occured when Coach Chilly initially elected the Texans with his 9th pick.  Immediately afterwards he reconsidered and elected to go with the Saints instead.  The excitement and anticipation may have clouded his judgement at the time, but we are all happy to see him settle into the NFC South with his long standing rival now the coach of the Falcons.

The order of the teams selected was a follows:

Packers
Eagles
49ers
Jaguars
Lions
Rams
Patriots
Falcons
Saints
Bills
