Chiefs 2021 Offseason Stories

Offense: TE Maxx Williams - 78 overall - 27 yrs old

Many Kansas City fans were in disarray when news broke that veteran tight end Travis Kelce would not be returning to Arrowhead next season. There was one man ecstatic with the news: Maxx Williams. At age 27, Williams is finally in a starting role. He was signed as a backup to Kelce last offseason, playing 458 downs. Primarily used as a blocker, he caught only 12 passes for 89 yards but did reach paydirt twice.

Williams has been training vigorously with former Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez this offseason to prepare for a big season. “Me and Tony would eat a hot breakfast around 5 am, watch film from 6 to 8, hit the gym until 9, then work on route running until we went to lunch around noon,” Williams said. He added, “After lunch we’d watch film of my morning workout and he’d critique me. Then we’d go back to the practice field for a few hours and finish the day off with some more film. We did that everyday for 2 months.” Williams has huge shoes to fill in this offense and he’s ready for a breakout season. Due to his focus on short and medium route running, he has seemingly lost some acceleration in the open field. Williams also spent less time on catching than usual, so we may see one or two more drops. Williams concluded, “It was an awesome offseason. Tony G taught me that getting open is key to the success of a tight end. Chiefs goin to the super bowl this season!”

Proposal:
SRR +3 (71-74)
ACC -3 (88-85)

MRR +3 (67-70)
CAT -3 (83-80)

Defense: CB Jalen Myrick - 77 overall - 26 years old

With the Chiefs desperately needing a second cornerback to emerge as Sherman’s athleticism is diminishing, Amerson and Breeland being as average as possible, and the #2 overall pick being a complete bum, speedster Jalen Myrick worked his tail off this offseason. It just so happens that he is the second cousin of Metta World Peace. Myrick reached out to the 2004 NBA DPOY to see what he could do to become an elite lockdown defender. “The key to defending is tight coverage. You gotta press your man all day!” said World Peace.

And so, Myrick had World Peace call up Kobe Bryant and the three worked everyday on defending. When asked about it, Myrick said: “Now, we all know the Kobe stories. His work ethic is unmatched. Everyday was something different with Metta and Kobe. Sometimes they’d call me at 4 am and say ‘meet us at the field in fifteen’ and I’d show up to Metta throwing deep balls to Kobe. Other days it’d be 10 pm and I’m just chillin at my crib, but here come Metta and Kobe knockin on my door with a basketball. Ain’t no way I can man up Kobe but I got better as the summer went on. We also played tennis, lacrosse, and soccer. It was one hell of an offseason.”

Myrick did his part this offseason to ensure the chiefs defense remains stout despite losing veteran safety Eric Berry. He concluded his interview by saying, “I’m so grateful for Metta and Kobe man. When we win the Bowl this season, they both gettin rings!”

Proposal:
PRS +3 (80-83)
SPD -1 (96-95)
ACC -1 (95-94)
JMP -1 (89-88)

MCV +3 (79-82)
ZCV -1 (78-77)
TAK -2 (66-64)

M19 2021 Offseason Storylines

You may choose 1 offensive player and 1 defensive player you’d like to improve via an extraordinary offseason. This is an opportunity to make 1 or 2 players better fit your scheme. We have changed our criteria from last season in the hopes that this will be what we stick with moving forward.

We are going back to the trade-off format but making it more uniform and basing it on archetypes. Hopefully this is less confusing and more straight-forward. Please see below.

-Max of 2 players (1 off and 1 def)
-Max age of 27
-No rookies
-Skills only (unless certain circumstances merit which a speed/strength addition)*
-When increasing a skill, you must also decrease a similar skill by the same amount (+3 FMV, -3 PMV or +3 MCV, -3 ZCV)
-Can increase/decrease up to 3 different skills per player
-Can increase/decrease up to 3 points per skill

*WR/CB with 85 spd we may allow +1, would still need a trade-off though

Please also note that something like this: +3 CIT and -3 spin move for a WR will not be viewed as a fair trade-off and will be rejected.

Create a new topic as such:
“(Your team name) 2021 Offseason Storylines” and create some type of backstory as to what the player did in the offseason to make such a change. Can be funny or serious, a few sentences or a few paragraphs. Get creative with it.

Once you do that, post the link in the newly created “offseason-storyline” channel of our discord group similar to what you’d do when posting  a trade approval or position change approval. Please feel free to start this right away as you can’t use rookies anyways. Once the season is underway (somewhere around week 3), we will make the proper changes to players for all approved stories.
